Wow, nice. Does it help at all with the booting (ie having to use a usb keyboard)

Unfortunately, no. At the moment, both trackpad fixes appear to do the same thing. The trackpad settings are not in the System Preferences, but can be adjusted by the mouse settings. That may change after the next reboot, though I'm not sure.

At least it scrolls.

Yes, we are getting there little by little it seems.

It would be nice if there was some sort of USB keyboard emulator stick that we could use until the keyboard situation is fixed

That is exactly what I was hoping for. Would be AWESOME if we had some file we could put on a flash drive or something that would make it read as a keyboard just long enough to boot up, instead of actually having to find/plugin some big keyboard.

Hey Annunaki did you update to 10.5.5 yet?

Oh...heck no! The update has updates for AppleHDA.kext, AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext, GeForce kexts, IO80211Family.kext, IOATAFamily.kext and kernel 9.5.0 plus a lot more. I really don't want to find out what that will do to the dv6000 series right now. If I get bored this weekend...and a few adult beverages...maybe I'll push the launch button.

I don't expect the update to fix any of our problems, like the economy, the price of gas in the southern states of America, and especially the one where the ex lives just down the road...Er, umm, I mean like graphics, keyboards and touchpads and...stuff.

That will have to just wait until later man.

btw.. Just so you know, when I got pissed off with my install and went back to Vista, I updated my bios to the latest HP bios F.40 I think it was, and when I decided to try and get my osx up again, it worked great. 0 problems and seems to boot faster than it did before. Just for your info about my experience so far and bios update F.40.

does that mean that your internal keyboard/mouse also work without plugging a usb keyboard in? that would be awesome. for 10.5.5, i would wait with the uptate until a hacked 9.5.0 kernel has been released. when updating, dont forget to patch cpuid's, or use the amd software update tool which is floating around somewhere here in the forums.

there are serveral files in the update that have cpuid's for intel cpus, this would cause problems on AMD systems, so they need to be patched. You dont need to patch your 10.5.4 install (if your used a 10.5.4 install dvd like the new leo4all for example, the id's are patched within the installation. but new system updates from apple are not patched yet, so this has to be done if you don't want to screw up your system. NEVER EVER install a system update from apple directly on an amd system. this will definitely destroy your os. look for guides how to upgrade an AMD System in the forum, there are serveral threads.

But back to my main question: Does your internal keyboard/trackpad work now without pluging an external usb keyboard and mouse while booting? I really would like to know.

no I did not get the trackpad/keyboard to work with the bios update.... I can only dream.

and yeah Blarneystone my sleep does the same thing. I have to hold the power button and do a hard reset to get it to come back up

Internal kb/trackpad & sleep never worked for me properly either...ever.

No luck getting this thing to boot clean without a stupid usb keyboard and mouse attached.

It's funny that you folks brought up the idea of an emulated kb/mouse on a usb device. My wife and i had pondered that a couple months ago :(

I'm scheduled to move to Japan in a few months and I figure that I'll have to revert the ol' lappy back to XP (to be truly portable) during that time.

We could live with the system if we didn't have to worry about plugging in stuff to make it boot. But when you have to use it in a working environment, it just has to perform.

Until then, I'm gonna try to get it optimal.

agreed annunaki. That's the only major hangup I am having with the system is, I can't REALLY be portable if I have to have a keyboard stuck out the back of my laptop back. If I only had to plug in a flash drive and my mouse (which I use every time I turn my laptop on anyways) things would be amazing.

Anybody tried a bluetooth keyboard? There is this Igo Stowaway bluetooth foldable keyboard for sale for PDA's that you can use with one of those ultra small bluetooth usb dongles. At least thats a thing you could just leave in your bag while showing off your Hackintosh in public.

Here's what gets me... When I installed Kalyway, the keyboard and trackpad were recognized natively. I have no idea if it's a kernel difference or smbios or what since I'm new to the OSx86 project. But if I at least had a direction, I might be able to find the code difference and then build a patch.

PS I do have one of those stowaway bluetooth keyboards - but I don't have dongle.. I use it with my mobile. Seems to me, it would be easier to get our notebook keyboards to work as opposed to introducing yet another factor (bluetooth) into the mix.

REALLY! What version of Kalyway???

I tried a bluetooth usb dongle and it worked out of the box on my dv9205us with leo4allv4.1. When you stick the bluetooth usb stick in immediately a new bluetooth icon appears in the menu bar on the left next to the wifi icon. The bluetooth setup assistant then helps you set up the connection for either mouse, keyboard, mobile phone etc.

Kalyway 10.5.2 (let me see if I can remember my setup)

I went default on just about ALL options.

Selected all bonus apps like kexthelper

Used ONLY the 1st patch in the AMD section at the bottom

If you remember a few pages back, I had it installed and everything worked well including audio, but the video was locked at 1024 x 768. The patch on the first page of this thread prevented booting once you deleted the IONSvrsupport (or whatever it is). I could NOT boot.

I have two partitions on this drive (one is for testing) I'll load it on this machine if you think we can get the whole thing working.

You gonna give it a try?

Kalyway 10.5.2...

You gonna give it a try?

Yeah, I suppose I'll start with replacing the ApplePS2Controller.kext and probably the AppleACPIPlatform.kext with the Kalyway version. There may be more kexts or files that need to be replaced, but this is a starting point!

We may have to play around with different kernels as well and find the right combo.

I got called out on location for some server stuff but when I get back, (hopefully 4pm EST I'll post them). I need to learn how to extract from an image, so if you can PM me a link on how to extract from an image, it will help me get to them quicker. :D
