breakingbad
any progress? Hi mate. Everything is OK. I downloaded the 1.4b package, ran it here and everything is fine. I´m reinstaling everything to the "new" TEST Partition and see how it behaves. If till tomorrow everything goes fine, I´m deleting the old main system and recover my main partition with the updated system. Thnx once again for all the help. You rock. breakingbad
did you install 10.5.4 yet on top of the 1.4b (10.5.3 update)? if so? what is the result? Yeah. 1st - I made a fresh install of Kalyway 10.5.2 DVD. 2nd - Ran the 10.5.3 (1.4b) version of you update package. 3rd - Ran the 10.5.4 update delta package from you too. Now everything is working quite nice. No problems at all. The only thing that still annoying me is my LAN card, that works, but under heavy usage, it makes my mouse goes crazy. Only that issue. I´m trying to buy a Realtek RTL8139 that people says out here in InsanelyMac, that works native, but the only store here in Brasil that sells that model, don´t answer my e-mail. That´s the terrible. After doing all that, even my other network windows based computers can be seen from the mac one, and before this fresh install, the system recognize the other computers, but I couldn´t access they. Now I can. I have the log files from that installation, If you want, I can post it here. Just let me know. []´s

[]´s both 8139 and 8169 has the same effect of your current one on nforce chipset! the driver is not very compatible with nforce chipset... i suggest you to read nforce topic about suggested lans... there were couple of additional recommendations but need to read whole thread to fnd them at least everything working fine this time as expected

Now the hole system is up to date. Thank you once again. Just this little issue about network cards is making my system to be 99%... So, the problem is not the card physically??? Well, didn´t knew that. The topic on nforce chipset you mentioned is the one created by you, right? I´m gonna look for it in a while. I´d buy the Netgear WG111 V3 as you recommend, but the friend of mine who was going to buy it for me in Japan, didn´t buy it and now I have to be wired yet. Well man, to buy specific hardware here in Brasil is a hard work. Very hard one. Mainly in the state I live. Here is harder than in Rio de Janeiro or São Paulo, for example. Once I visited an apple authorized dealer here in Salvador, and he said it could get me netgear hardware, but his price was very high. It would be cheaper to me import that hardware than buying here. The bigger problem right now, is that my friend didn´t buy me the adapter, but he didn´t bought me the Wireless Router too. So, need to buy the wireless router first. Just one thing mate... using the internet trough an USB port won´t make my mouse goes crazy under heavy internet usage like the LAN card do???? Well mate, as I don´t have any other option, I´m going to buy this Realtek RTL8139 to see what happens. It will cost me 6 dollars. Not much to a test. Using USB to get connected to the internet won´t give this issue about the mouse going crazy? Because even my router doesn´t have usb ports. All the hardware I have is playing against me. LOL ! dustobub
Mysticus C*, Thanks for the updates, I managed to successfully update my IBM T42 (sse2 only) from 10.5.2 Kalyway all the way to 10.5.4 using your packages. I did have to restore my ACPI and ATA Kexts though, but knew that ahead of time. I am having only one issue and its my Atheros Wireless card. Using the IO80211Family.kext in your update my wireless card disappeared, I edited the Info.plist to include my cards ID and upon restart it seemed to work (it found the card). However, when I try to click on the wireless icon on the top bar my computer hard locks instantly. I have tried reparing permissions and also the 10.5.2 kext, any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks. dustobub
Fixed my wireless issue. Installed the IO80211Family.kext from Kalyway 10.5.2 rather than Apple's combo update and everything is back to 100%. Thanks again. Dustin

RaFaeL_Rj
After updating to 10.5.4, my battery meter vanished from my bar... I also don't have the battery/power supply distinct options on System Preferences... I've attached two options of my AppleACPI and AppleSMBIOS... On BatteryMeterOK, the battery meter is showing properly, the battery/power supply distinct options are fine, but the computer name and icon are wrong... On ComputerNameOK, the computer name and icon are right, but I have no battery meter, neither battery/power supply distinct options... Can someone merge them and make everything work together? in advance! BatteryMeterOK.zip ComputerNameOK.zip
Mysticus C*
Error Msgs: Attachment 1 : Using -s ( stalled at root ) Attachment 2 : Using -v you have firewire problem, I dont know what the issue is but heard that some mobos have firewire problems dont know exactly what causes it though... can you try to disable firewire from bios to see if it will efffect anything for the boot? if it does, maybe you can search for the firewire issue through other topics... couple of things to check: /System/Library/Extensions/IOUSBFamily.kext/Contents/Plugins/ in this folder, check for two files: AppleUSBEHCI.kext and PCGenUSBEHCI.kext if both of them are in the folder remove the PCGenUSBEHCI if you dont have the USB High Speed (usb 2.0) Controller not recognized issue... make sure you know what you are doing... @dustobob: good luck mate... you could have checked your backupkexts folder to get your older version wireless drivers but you did it somehow anyways... so good luck... @Komano: You either know everything, and trying to make fun of us or you really dont know anything about anyting either way... get lost... @Rafael: I will see what i can do but suggest you to try the working acpi with one of the smbios from my update package nub versions are good (my preference) but choice is yours... see if it works? tids
Thanks for replying back Mysticus .. As far as i can see the problem is not with the firmware... It showed even when i was installing the iAtkos 2.0i .. in that case what i did was Steps : from command prompt ( f8 darwin boot: ) ... typed darwin ... added the boot sector bytes ->exit --> it booted into installation of v2.0i ... and finished the installation. Everything worked .. Now for the update thingy: this is how i did the update Opened the mkext pkg added the line about removing the extensions in your initial ( original) preflight script (1.4b) ==> for the nvidia gfx issue and then ran the update . However during the installation i didnt get any windows to customize anything i.e it was a direct auto install (*1.4b update) from the leapord. The error msgs came after the reboot. I think something to do with Nvidia drivers ... I had the same issue with iAtkos 1.o rc2 , it booted but after a while apple logo and then indefinate reboot loop. Shine some light on this ... Thanks mate !! for the help.
