instead of saying failed, i would love to see installer log and after that can tell what went wrong...

suid errors should not exist but if it does, it means you have some improper naming in installation packages...

iatkos 2.0i is confirmed to use improper names therefore suid errors normal but didnt hear about v1ir2...

my 10.5.3 update package on 1ir2 has suid errors? if so can u provide me the 10.5.3 install log on 1.0ir2 as well? bcoz it sounds like you either using earlier version of 10.5.3 update of mine, or 1ir2 also has improper naming...??

i suggest you to have fresh kalyway 10.5.2 install and do 10.5.3 update 1.4b and 10.5.4 delta update...

HI MYSTICUS

me again ... ;-)

txs for the updates ...

but one question, is there a update for nvidia chipset user?

I have still the problem on heavy usage -> kernel panic ...

is there a updatefix now?

4 gb ram causes freeze due to incompatibility in the nforce driver for 64 bit mode... try to extract a file bigger than 1gb u will see that it will freeze the system...

u have to use 2 gb ram physicaly or using maxmem= value... but i suggest use the system with 2 gb only... it should fix the random freeze on heavy usage... i m not aware of any other freeze problem other than on board lan driver that causes it... if u dont have the on board lan enabled and using with the nforceethernet driver, than the problem is definetely RAM...

Hi mate.

How ya doing?

How was your trip? I remember you said it would be gone of the forum for a few days. Hope everything went fine. ;)

I´m having a little trouble updating to 10.5.4 Delta file.

I installed it on a test partition but when restarting got this screen.

1000006yb5.th.jpg

I don´t know what went wrong.

I´m using your 1.3 update package, but not the 1.4 one. Do you believe that could be the problem?

About the update package, just selected standard options. No kernel changes at all.

Hope to hear from you soon.

Hi. Still me. :D

More news about my problem on updating to 10.5.4 with Delta file.

Here are the screens. You can see that all the proccess goes fine and before rebooting the system recognizes that is 10.5.4 installed version.

picture3lk8.th.png

I used the standard options for the installation.

After rebooting, it shows this screen.

Seems to be something about my keyboard. It´s the last line shown in the log and the comes the message: "Still waiting for root device"

Waiting on you people...

Hi

Installation of update 1.4b FAILED.

It started up as expected, I checked what was available in Customize, but changed nothing and then clicked Install.

This took about 10-12 minutes (everything looked normal) and then an error window with the message "Install failed".

Strange, "About This Mac" reports Version 10.5.3 now..

system.kext is still 9.2.0 but mach_kernel was replaced with something new (probably sleep kernel 9.2.0)

I restored my 9.2.0 Speedstep kernel for SSE2 and rebooted (with -v -f).

No luck with booting though.

thanx for the feedback... more the feedback the better the results... :)

I am going to try it tonight Mysticus. I will send you my installer log when I succeed. (Which I am sure I will).

But, if I do a clean install this is not a combo update correct?

I still need to install my 10.5.2 + upgrade using the 10.5.3 update by you. THEN use the 10.5.4 delta... correct?

@mattil: your problem is incompatible AppleAPIC.kext the update should have backed up all the kexts... if you dont have additional partition to boot from, somehow you have to replace the AppleAPIC.kext with your previous one... this is a common problem on certain chipsets... so use windows/transmac to copy back your original files from the backup folder in the root...

I suggest youto replace two files AppleACPIPlatform.kext and AppleAPIC.kext should work just fine...

@tense: correct! however 10.5.2 kalyway pls, iatkos 2.0 release using different package names so you would run to trouble if u use it...

@breaking bad: i dont know how you got that pcgenusb2 but it is creating conflict in your system... get rid of it... and if u installed kalyway 10.5.2 as base system, you should check my guide pic on the nforce topic, u have to deselect it when installing...

you can however try this:

boot using

-v -f

this should load nforceata and load the system hopefully

later

delete S/L/E/IOUSBFamily.kext/Contents/Plugins/PCGenUSBEHCI.kext

Hi there

The following solution has worked for me: (Taken from http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...989&st=580)

QUOTE (nigelbb @ Mar 26 2008, 02:59 PM) post_snapback.gif

I just found the same problem. I am surprised that more people haven't noticed this or maybe they are all installing on their one & only computer & have no server to connect to:-)

There is an error in a symbolic link /System/Library/Filesystems/afpfs.fs You can check this from Terminal with this command:-

ls -l /System/Library/Filesystems/afpfs.fs

If it shows something like this then there is a problem as the link should be to /System not just System:-

lrwxr-xr-x  1 root wheel 49 Mar 25 12:22 /System/Library/Filesystems/afpfs.fs ->  System/Library/Filesystems/AppleShare/afpfs.kext

To fix this in Terminal enter these commands

sudo rm /System/Library/Filesystems/afpfs.fs
sudo ln -s /System/Library/Filesystems/AppleShare/afpfs.kext /System/Library/Filesystems/afpfs.f

Before each command executes you will be prompted for your password.

I had a look inside the packages on the Leo4ALLV2 disk & the error is present there so I guess that it's something for Eddie to fix for V3 plus add to the Known Issues

ENDQUOTE

Ok, back in business again, I booted up with kalyway install DVD, went to Terminal and copied the

files you mentioned from /backupkexts to /S/L/E and followed up with a 'diskutil repairPermissions /Volumes/MacOSX/'.

Thank's!!! :):D :D

Tomorrow I will check into details. Is there any install log from the updater ?

Hi mate.

I don't know either why I got this message.

I'm using the Kalyway 10.5.2 DVD as base system but never selected any kind of option about PCGenUSB or something. Just got that message.

As I'm working right now, I can't try to fix it right now, but I'll do it ASAP.

Thnx for the repply. I hope that this change take effect to my system.

I'm having problems with Kalyway 10.5.2 or 10.5.3 Combo Updates on my iATKOS installation and I have already tried many suggested fixes.

iATKOS v1.0ir2 + Mysticus 10.5.3 v1.3 is the best hackintosh installation I've had on my machine ever. It's installation trouble free (with a minor network fix) and everything works well. Unfortunately, 10.5.4 Delta Update doesn't work on it. I will try iATKOS_4i as soon as I finish with the download and hope it works well on my machine.

As always, thanks for the help. :censored2:

Overall the experience on my ancient hardware is great. :D (leo4all v3 -> 10.5.3 (v1.4b)-> 10.5.4)

My laptop is a HP Pavilion dv4000, Pentium M cpu, gma900 etc.

I had to restore *ATA* + AppleIntegratedFramebuffer + AppleACPIPlatform + AppleAPIC from backup. ( Without AppleACPIPlatform + AppleAPIC, keyboard and trackpad would'nt work, without *ATA* I got the waiting for root device error, and without AppleIntegratedFramebuffer I got a stuck on witha blue screen.)

I have the wireless left to fix, but that is just a matter of getting the iwi2200 driver from http://code.google.com/p/iwidarwin/.

Everything else seem to work except no hardware CI/QE (no known working driver for i915 on Leo right?) and iCal crashing (as usual).

Is there no fix for iCal? (except rosetta mode)

Thanks again. :P

@wingrunr21: there is a way but it requires knowing the package names iatkos used in the installation. Once learned the package names, i can send fixed script files that will update the corrected package names and therefore no more suid errors but this will be painfull process bcoz it will require doing the same thing every single update... due to different names used in packaging, it will be always problem...

@brekaing bad: if u used kalyway 10.5.2 and didnt check my nforce guide pic about what to choose and what not to choose, it explains how you got it... :P

@ericp: in the 10.5.4 update package, there is no bricking driver... it should work fine but your screen shot showing that ATA drivers are not loading for some reason... can you try booting with -v -f and see if it changes anything... also can u confirm that if 10.5.3 1.4b update worked for you?

Log file from the 'Failed' installation.

It seems to me that it wasn't that failed, from reading the log.

Just some (a few) files not being replaced.

Comments?

it looks like something went haywire during download... error log showing damaged file and hence cant extract some files... i suggest you to download the update package again...

Hi mate.

Well, booting with -v -f worked for me just fine.

I´m justing having trouble with the path you told me to follow to delete the PCGenUSBEHCI.kext because in my SYSTEM>LIBRARY>EXTENSIONS folder there´s only the IOSUBFamily.kext but as a file not as a folder and the part of CONTENTS>PLUGINS doesn´t have. :)

Am I looking for it in the wrong place/folder?

Waiting on you.

Hi mate.

Know I understand why couldn´t find the specified folder. :)

That´s the reason that keeps always getting me back here. :)

I´m restoring my TEST Partition so I can apply the 10.5.4 Delta Update file.

I was wondering... to my working partition, should I delete the PCGenUSBEHCI.kext before installing the update file or just after the update proccess?
