Complete Updates for Newbies and All -- Currently 10.5.5 Combo (Only Intel CPUs)

I managed to get the network working with AppleYukon.kext (the old one from Tiger) instead of AppleYukon2.kext (from Leo). For some reason, AppleYukon2.kext did worked correctly with 10.5.2 and NOT with 10.5.5, so probably it's some dependency problem.

Michal

Can anyone please PM me a link to download just the Tiger AppleYukon.kext or email me the file? I only have Leopard and I can't find just the kext file.

ADthanksVANCE!

Davirus: Stupid morons come and go everyday, because noobs like you do not understand how to read, but know how to fight and argue like arrogant morons. You simply have no idea what i am talking about. I am here to help people as much as I can as much as they give me the correct information regarding what is happening, and what i ask in my guide... You simply refuse to understand and read it. It does not matter how simple or how hard the problem is, I use a structered way to solve them. Better and clearer the information, quicker teh answer... and dont forget (which i doubt you understand) I am not dealing with one noob, with a black screen problem (how obvious it gets to understand you have gfx card problem, but you dont say anything about your gfx card model etc info that was the info being asked). You call me stupid because I refused to answer your question, but u refused to tell me your hardware specs since my last insult against you yesterday.... only now you wrote down your hardware specs... not so hard ey? i can ask you every single of these, but i simply fed up asking people since i said it right in the first post where all the links and guides are! you simply refused to answer, rather continue arguing with me... since you were able to fix the problem yourself with other people, you have no business around here, so go ahead and take off... coz i wont answer anymore of your stupid arguments about how stupid you are...

You are a REALLY dumb person dont you?

The info asked? you started to insult me and you DIDNT specifiqued wich info you need to help me.

ANYWAY, I had posted the infor in first place:

===============================================

Im having a problem that I see is kinda cmon around here, but I see no solution.

When I update using the "combo update", my computer freeze after log-in.

There is no chance I did something wrong, I followed the steps correctly:

1.- All on desktop

2.- a.), b.), c.)

a.) pre

b.) combo

c.) post

= reboot

ME? EXCUSE ME MR GENIUS!

Im not the one who is calling everyone here a bunch of noobs and stupid morons that like to argue.

I was trying to keep the things easy as possible but you still insulting me, so yeah, I guess Im arrogant.

davirus:

i specified everything in the first post... you didnt read it? your stupidness

+ you didnt show which options you have choosen!

+ you didnt tell which package version you were using

+ you didnt provide your hardware information correctly... only now you posted your hardware specs...

and you telling me that you provided all the information? calling you have intel cpu and your memory amount and gma 950 card... is sufficient to you, probably sufficient for stupid noobs... i clearly stated what information i needed... and if u were clever enough, you would have read the topic posts... you are indeed genius clever with your 10 days experience... i should have even guessed your hardware specs by heart... stupid me cant read mind

you may have a common problem does not mean i know the answer, and solution, i already stated that in the first post

you may have a common problem does not mean i know the answer, and solution, i already stated that in the first post

...I dont know answer to all questions. If anyone knows an answer they will already post it, which they usualy do. Some people are clever, they dont just use the tools and guides, they use their head as well. They figure out different workarounds or solutions to particular problems, and they post it in the topics...

i call people noobs/stupid when the shoe fits right... and it is perfect match for you... you didnt provide the adequate information regarding what i asked in the guide, and i m very tired of asking every other noob to post their hardware specs in the signature, and what they have done in the update process, and if followed everytg what they chosen in last step...

stop right here, and walk away from this topic please, if you continue with your stupid arguments about how you are not right, i will report you, and you may either get warning or ban...

Update: Works with Your Package Version 1.1.5 and only with 2 GB RAM (freeze with 4x1GB RAM on MoBo). But: It's okay! Great Job! Thx!

Try using the Voodoo Beta 2C kernel with Slashack's nForceATA kext......you can install them using the nForce Drivers Installer that Mysticus C* has made at my request to support my Series 7 and Pre-Series 7 nForce MOBO chipset + Intel CPU threads......I am successfully running 6GB RAM on my 650i chipset MOBO........ :)

Tested but it freeze with 4GB Ram and with heavy Load on Network. Will test again with 2GB Ram and report.

This sounds like a network chipset/driver issue.... is your onboard LAN disabled in BIOS......if you do not need it enabled then disable it.......also is your NIC a RTL8139 or a RTL8169 chipset card?

Freeze with:

- 4GB Ram and

- OnBoard nForceLAN

- and also with PCI RTL 8169SC LAN Card

At the Moment stable with:

- 2 GB RAM (4GB on Board but set maxmem=2048 bootflag)

- OnBoard NForceLAN

Update: MacOS X Server Version 10.5.4 runs stable with 4GB Ram and OnBoard LAN

Update: What kernels are you using with OS X Client and OS X Server?

This is interesting because I have the same MOBO......I have onboard LAN ports enabled for use by Vista and Ubuntu but RTL8169 port disabled in Vista and Ubuntu.....in OS X Client, I have the onboard LAN ports disabled but RTL8169 enabled....

Before using Voodoo Beta 2C kernel + slashack nForceATA kext, I had maxmem=3072, giving stable operation with no freezes during internet use BUT for heavy LAN use, I use cpus=1 and maxmem=2048......

I could not get stable operation with onboard LAN + eno nForceLAN kext with maxmem=3072 , nor when using Voodoo Beta 2C kernel + slashack nForceATA kext to enable full 6GB RAM use.....however, with RTL8169 NIC, 6GB RAM + 4 cores have caused no freezes.....

Okay...after a bit testing:

NOT Stable with NForce and maxmem=3072. Also unstable with NForce and 4GB Ram.

Wich Driver have you for the RTL8169?

I use AppleRTL8169Ethernet.kext but have also used R1000.kext modded by Psystar successfully.....

Are you using the Voodoo Beta 2C kernel in both OS X Client and Server, and also slashack's nForceATA kext?

I test ONLY the Client at the Moment. Server is Version 10.5.4...cause i've no Post/Pre Update Packages for Server Version.(See my upper Post)

Actual Config:

=========

10.5.5 Client: Voodoo Beta 2C kernel with slashack's nForceATA kext diffrent RAM Configs and onBoard Lan.

- with 4GB Ram, onBoardLAN and the actual slashack's nForceATA kext: running UPDATE: freeze on heavy Network Load! :P

- with 4 GB Ram, RTL8169 NIC and the actual slashack's nForceATA kext: testing...

10.5.4 Server: JaS / Kernel: "as it is" but with slashack's nForceATA kext and onBoard Lan and 4 GB Ram

- seems stable but have not enough tested at the moment (and no Patch Packages for 10.5.5!)

Can u Upload me the modified R1000.kext for testing?

Dear MysticuC, I wrote before and maybe I lost the answer, so here it is again the question:

- This "driver" is only for PC machines with hacked OSX or it is for original MAC also?

- On the new package (1.1.5), I didn't see the ATI HD 2900 XT board, it was removed?

- Do I need extra cables to power the board?

As stated before, I'm using Mac OSX 10.5.5 (original MAC), I got the update from SW Update (Apple) and I never used the board.

Tks, KasRos

Hi guys,

would like to know if it's possible to install osx86 on this Laptop: HP Pavilion dv7-1090ed?

Specs:

Intel® Core™2 Duo Processor P8600 (2.4 GHz)

4GB DDR2 System Memory

512MB NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT

640GB 7200RPM SATA Dual Hard Drive (320GB x 2) with HP ProtectSmart Hard Drive Protection

Many thanks,

Mladenz

hi - to be perfectly blunt there is a oine word answer to your question - RESEARCH - all of the answers are her but you must search - OSx86 is not meant to be a simple replacement to Windows - you have to do your bit first which means researching these forums and Google. Please do not take offense at this but I'm trying to give you good advice so that more experienced members WILL help you in the future. I started with a spare HDD for my laptop and went by trial and error.... Good luck and yes I am sure it will work.

GeForce: can you do this with the 1.1.5 package.... because it works on that mobo!

pre patch for nforce (1.1.5 package has 2 pre patch packages, one for normal, one for nforce!!! try the nforce one!!!)

combo update

post patch (custimized)==> (no kernel choice, no chipset choice, audio restore or if u have 198b choose that, network restore, no video choice, smbios:mac pro)

nvidia drivers package (customized)===> (nforceata: nforceata, nvdarwin: step1, step2: 512mb, usb mount: voodoo beta 2c)

u should be good to go...

kasros: this is for hackintoshes, why on earth you would wanna use patched drivers from hackintosh community if you have an original mac pc? unless what you mean by original is you insalled your hackintosh machine from an official osx dvd???

do you have hackintosh machine? or an original mac? like mac book, mac book pro, imac? mac mini? mac pro?

thank you for your answer

which part of my explanation you dont understand mate... most laptops has internal screen problem! some of them easy to bypass with a paperclip, some of them are lucky to use laptopdisplay.kext (driver) but most unlucky and need to use external monitor to enable internal if it allows!!!

you have two things to search... open google and use two different search keywords...

1) laptopdisplay insanelymac

2) paperclip method insanelymac

check each of them and test to find out which works best for you...

some laptop users lucky and able to use internal monitor w/o paperclip or any additional trick, some unlucky and need to use paperclip or laptopdisplay driver or totally unlucky needs external monitor!

for usb problem, what exactly do you mean? there are two usb issues that are very common and i explained 1000000 times in many places, that people still dont understand and dont read carefully!

1) USB MOUNT ISSUE:

symptom:

your usb flash devices do not appear/mount when you stick them in usb slot if you stick them after restart. If you stick the usb device before you start the machine, it will mount.

how to know:

open your system profiler (applications/utilities/system profiler). check the usb tab: you should see your device attached in one of the usb ports!!!! but it does not show in finder or disk utility or desktop!!! this is called USB NOT MOUNTING

cause:

it is caused by mismatched version of kernel and system.kext

solution:

solution is very easy. get the correct version of the files. usually when you update your system, you will have latest system.kext but you will usually keep your old kernel, which will be different version, so keep in mind and keep your old system.kext as well. In all of my update packages, if you choose a kernel, it ALWAYS come with correct version of system.kext, meaning you will not have this issue, unless you mess things up by yourself manually changing files!

2) USB 2.0 Controller not Recognized:

This is usually the most not-understood issue... This is due to mount issue always dismissed by distro making people. When usb mount issue exist, and people see a title USB FIX, people associate it with mount issue!!!! Completely wrong!!!!! Why? Read on and you will understand... Also, the worst case scenerio is that both issues exists at the same time!!! But if you understand the symptoms, you will know how easy to differantiate them.

symptom: Your usb devices WILL MOUNT!!! HOWEVER THEY WILL WORK IN USB 1.1. speeds, which means they will work extremely slow...

how to know:

open your system profiler, check your usb tab... HIGH SPEED USB BUS should NOT EXIST!!!! HIGH SPEED USB BUS will be MISSING!!! This is called USB 2.0 Controller not being recognized by OS X!!!

cause: it is caused by the bios not releasing the correct information that OS X is looking for, or different kind of addressing and release of information is used...

solution:

solution is a bit of luck! This is becaue it is hardware specific, and if your hardware can be forced to release the info, you will be lucky to get it working. Solution comes from an old method with the patching to force the bios to release the information with (patch's old name PCGenUSBEHCI (renamed name of AppleUSBEHCI plugin inside the plugins directory)...

WORST OF WORST: YOU MAY HAVE BOTH USB MOUNT AND USB CONTROLLER ISSUES AT THE SAME TIME... BUT IF YOU READ ABOVE "HOW TO KNOWs" YOU WILL SEE HOW EASY IT IS TO IDENTIFY BOTH...

USB CONTROLLER ISSUE: HIGH SPEED USB BUS is MISSING in system profiler!!!

USB MOUNT ISSUE: USB DEVICE WILL SHOW in USB TAB OF system profiler!!!

IN BOTH CASES YOU WILL SEE THE USB DEVICE ATTACHED TO ONE PORT IN USB TAB!!!

Mysticus C*: I have tried with the special nForce pack and didn't used the normal pack, but when de official update is finished and you can press the restart button (what I never do according to the installlation steps) then the system freezes.

I did not do anything special and it happens very fast after the official update (5 seconds)

Or do i need to press the restart button after the official update? (and the pre-update pack stops the system from restarting or what?)

I hope you get kind of an idea about the situation.
