Mysticus C. Thanks for all yourwork.

I installed everything as per instructions. version 1.1.4 of the post update does not give me the customize option. I had a copy of the version 1.1.3a and this gave me the option to customize. I chose:

• Kernel: 9.5.0 Vanilla Kernel with Shutdown Fix

• Chipset: ICHx AHCI-JmicronAHCI-PIIX

• Video: Just Restore Video and nvidia fix, GTS 8600 EFI (test)

• Audio: Just Restore Audio

• Network: Just Restore Network

• System Functions: USB 2.0

Booted with "update -v" option.

I did see a yellow error regarding the Apple CPU power management failed and something about it being duplicate.

The other problem is that I have lost my Ethernet connectivity. I ran the post upgrade utility and this time I chose it to install the Marvel Yukon drivers. I still don't have Ethernet connectivity.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

+++++++ UPDATE +++++++

What do you know. Further playing around with the Post Combo Update Patches installer, I got the networking working.

The only issue I see is the Apple CPU power management failure issue, when you boot in verbose mode. Can someone help me with this?

Im having a problem that I see is kinda cmon around here, but I see no solution.

When I update using the "combo update", my computer freeze after log-in.

There is no chance I did something wrong, I followed the steps correctly:

1.- All on desktop

2.- a.), b.), c.)

a.) pre

b.) combo

c.) post

= reboot

appleintelcpupowermanagement yellow error message is perfectly normal and expected! this is caused by the pre update installer which installs apleintelcpupowermanagement disabler driver. You need to either delete the appleintelcpupowermanagement driver or disable it to run your system without kernel panic!!!... well i included a package that disables it! so you dont have to worry about it... will add this information to update guide bcoz there are way too many stupid comments coming about it, and people have no idea what that driver is...

i downloaded the kext by Blue-K. unfortunately when i run the pre update, the combo and the post update my account is automatically disabled so i cannot install the kext for my keyboard. i restart. keyboard does not work so i cannot even type my password! just awesome! then i restart again in safe mode. i install the kext successfully but then again keyboard does not work on the next start of my osx. i am sick of trying to update to 10.5.5. i appreciate you work but it is too messy. always something is forgotten to be added in the .dmg installer. so i expect a much better synchronization for the future!!!!! i am again back to 10.5.2. mysticus, why don't you update to 10.5.5?

I did a very stupid thing...i ran the prepatch then the combo then the post but when i ran the post i didnt customize the installation so now whenever i reboot i get stuck on the gray apple screen. i tried loading it in safe mode, im still stuck at the gray screen. when i did -v at the boot i got this message in bold and yellow

failed to load extention com.apple.driver.AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.

i need to get back to my desktop there is a very important file i need, after i retrieve that i have no problem wiping the drive clean and starting over but i really really need to get that folder. Is there anyway to retrieve that folder or get past the gray screen of death?

my specs are:

Motherboard: Asus P5W DH Deluxe

Graphics Card: NVIDIA 8500 GT

CPU: Intel E6750 (dual core)

please help!

I didnt follow Mysticus C* that much lenghty and Adviseful guide, Just installed Leo4All V2 then update it to 10.5.3 with Kalyway Comboudate, further updated to 10.5.4 through software update, then once again updated through software update to 10.5.5 and it booted painlessly, just deleted CPUPowerManagement Kext manualy didnt even repair permissions and now my leopard running smoothly with Apple Stock kernel. After that I UPDATED my leopard with all updates through software updates like Airport, Java,iTune,QuickTime,Front Row and Other Security updates. See my Sig for system Spec.

I have updated my Signature with my System specs, n by no means my hardware has a problem, as it is working fine with my Windows Vista Ultimate. My Computer got held at b (Apple Update) so i restarted my PC and then there was that famous Grey Apple screen with spinning wheel for almost 30 mins and so i turned my pc off , and get the same screen whenever i boot into Leopard. ;)

Help ???

petar: the whole update topic is to help people update as painlessly as possible, and i dont have all the resources to test everything nor i have enough people to tell me what other drivers needed and where they are needed. When you are missing a lot of handfull clear information, it is hard to satisfy everyone. I am not trying to satisfy you either. Since I can see that you complain a lot, do not read / search around, you will be in the bottom part of my list of people to help.... Esp you do not do anything constructive, but complain...

nyc2atl: what you did is a result of noob behaviour. You jump to conclusion before you read and understand things carefully... I have provided a brick free system guide for future use so people dont waste time too much worrying about things, not many people appreciate and read it...

raziiq: provide information: what did you do? which packages did you install and in which order? a - b - c? if u followed the guide correctly what did you choose in last step?

panarchy:

kernel-9.5.0 vanilla or 9.4.0 stagexnu

chipset- ichx ahci (if ahci enabled for all devices) or ichx non ahci (if ahci is not enabled--esp when you have jmicron with no ahci setting)

audio-restore

network-restore

system-smbios: mac pro, uncheck acpi if vanilla kernel selected else leave it selected,

you should be good to go... but make sure you follow the order of steps, a b c

denja: the guide is not lenghty if you are a clever person! descriptions are lenghty! and you would not need to do your lenghty update process either if you read the guide correctly... in one go, you would update to 10.5.5 from your main install rather than step by step 10.5.3, 10.5.4, 10.5.5.... the update package i provided eliminates the manual process of deleting cpupowermanagement, and replacing the dsmos part for "1" script... if you are clever person, you would just do a,b, c with no selected you would still get everything you did in 3 steps... but nevermind, you look like to be here for speculating stg that you do not fully understand at all...

mc i know what i did was a noob thing i dont need to be told that, all im asking for is that is there a way to fix it?

if you have windows, you can find and install a program called transmac, for accessing mac partitions...

or if you know how to use terminal, you can boot with one of your osx dvds, and using terminal you can transfer the file to a flash disk?

mysticus, you and the other guys may have great skills but when you always forget something, you trash other people's installs

mysticus, you and the other guys may have great skills but when you always forget something, you trash other people's installs

that is why i say treat it as test and provided a brick free guide for noobs like you can use it... however noobs like you come and go everyday, and learn very little... but complain big time... I dont have a duty to entertain you! I do this thing as a hoby, no one is paying for this, and noone is forcing you to try my update package... read the title, it says NEWBIES not NOOBS, because i hate noobs, they never read or search around, but ask questions and complain a lot...

you dont like what i m tying to do? simply go search a better topic that suits your needs...

I know that you wont bother to understand it, but, here are some sentences from the first post

Warning: Treat this as a TEST... Although safe, make sure you back up your important stuffs before updates, and test it on an additional partition (see bottom of the page for additional guide to make a brick free system) ... Before making this update main stream...

If anyone was using additional patches and/or workarounds before, please let me know these files, I will make an additional package for installing these files for you... And hopefully can add them to the current update package to include them as well for later usage...

Dear  Mysticus C*

I have a dummy question, please?

I own an ATI Radeon HD 2900 XT with 1G of memory and already the 10.5.5 version of Mac OSX, how do I proceed to install the driver for this graphic board? Other question: do I have to use any cable to power the board? How to get it?

Please, I'm new on this and would like some step-by-step procedure help.

Thanks a lot, Cassio
