newsman and victor gil both of you read this

if you are not afraid to try and learn new things... read the post#1 regarding brick free system preparation... if you do that, use following partition scheme...

25-25-50-25-25 (GB)(victor gil, use normal suggestions in the guide for partitioning) , (1-2-3 will be primary and 4-5-6 will be automatically secondary, 1 for main osx-journaled, 2 for linux-dos?, 3 for vista-dos, 4 for linux-dos? 5- for osx clone-journaled)

if you do the cloning right, you can test the things u want before applying them, so u ll know b4 hand the results, without bricking system...

do what i say above, and than make sure u understand how it works...

after that... u can try these settings (from 1.1.4 package)...

kernel: 9.5.0 vanilla with fix, or stagexnu

chipset: ichx ahci (if ahci supported by ur mobo) if not, use ichx non ahci

audio: restore

network: restore

video: intel gma 950-3100 laptop version (make sure u dont select desktop ones... 950 and 3100 has one laptop package, but both has different desktop package)

system func: smbios: macbook, (unselect acpi if u selected the vanilla kernel), ps2-keyb trackpad fix, that should be it...

Ok, thanks for the reply, i'll try it tonight but only with 2 partition, one for main OSX partition and one for the guinea pig OSX partition...

which version of archieve you are using? latest is 1.1.4 (page 72,post 1424)

http://img410.imageshack.us/img410/3442/updatern7.png

check the pic above to see the options, in intel there is gma950 3100 option...

are you sure you are following the correct steps?? you have intel chipset, you should not be having freeze or gray screen unless you are not following the step by step guide!!!!!!!

thanks for the reply, i used the 1.1.3 version because this what i got from the link you pm me: http://www.freewebtown.com/mysticus/index2222222.html

but i will try the 1.1.4.

just one think i want to ask you about the x3100 video drivers, is the new update will enable its hardware CI/QE functions, because right now when i check video info its saying for Quartz Extreme: not supported.

and just to let you know i did follow the step by step on post #1 and for the for the picks i did all the picks you did on your post for me. now with the 1.1.4 packge this what i will do

kernel: 9.5.0 vanilla with fix, or stagexnu

chipset: ichx ahci (if ahci supported by ur mobo) if not, use ichx non ahci

audio: restore

network: restore

video: intel gma 950-3100 laptop version (make sure u dont select desktop ones... 950 and 3100 has one laptop package, but both has different desktop package)

system func: smbios: macbook, (unselect acpi if u selected the vanilla kernel), ps2-keyb trackpad fix.

is that will work on my laptop spec because i am not sure about the ichx ahci thing i checked my bois and i could not see it.

thanks,

Hi Mysticus,

As suggested through PM see my specs below (in case you can help me chose the right options on 1.1.4 patch):

- Core 2 Duo E8200

- Asrock ConRoe 1333-DVI/H mobo (945GC/ICH7 chipset + Realtek RTL8111B + ALC888 audio)

- 2 GB DDR2 RAM

- MSI GeForce 7300GS PCIe

- ASUS WL-138GE V2 PCI WLAN

- Seagate SATAII 250GB + 500GB HDs

I have a Kalyway 10.5.2 (+ 10.5.3 combo update + 10.5.4 Apple original soft. update) with Vanilla Kernel installation running smoothly (without sleep mode though).

Thanks a million!

Sam

newsman: i cant know wheter it will work or not, i got it from another topic where some people had success some people didnt... some pep in this topic with 3100 got everything working... so i can assume it will work but cant guarantee anything...

I am thankful for all the help you are providing everyone here with your guide, can you please direct to the right way before I do this again, just like I said on my last post about AHCI, if AHCI supported by my mother board. As you know it is an Intel, and I search in Google for any info, but I did not find any useful info. and if there is a way to find out with vista. In addition, for the video drivers I guess the only way to find out is to tried witch I will do tonight.

Thanks,

kernel: 9.5.0 vanilla with fix (if u were able to boot vanilla before), or 9.4.0 stagexnu... either one will work...

chipset: ichx ahci (if you have ahci enabled in bios), if you dont have ahci, choose ichx no ahci option

audio: restore (if it was working before)

network: restore or marvel

video: nvinject with correct memory or nvkush

system func: smbios: mac pro, (unselect acpi if u selected vanilla kernel),

you are good to go...

nemesis: this is an update topic, not support topic for your system to up and running... there are other topics for installations!!! please delete your message... your post is not relevant to this topic... thanx for deleting your post

newsman: check your bios, for sata function level options, wheter to see if it is set to "native ide" ? "legacy ide" ? "ahci" ? or "raid" ? there should be a setting for taht... just check the options in your bios, of course if you know how to check your bios... if not, i m sorry it will be harder to guide further...

Thanks Mysticus C. These scripts are awesome - they worked for me the first time! 20 mins and I was able to upgrade from 10.5.1 Kalyway to 10.5.5 using your scripts....just 20 mins!!

kernel: 9.4.0 stagexnu

chipset: restore

audio: restore

network: restore

video: GMA900

system func: smbios: 667Mhz

My specs are in the sig, the machine is fairly old, but the updates went just fine and the system is smooth as butter.

Thanks again to all of you for bring this great release.

Mysticus C*,

I am going to do a clean install of iAtkos v4.1i then do the upgrade to 10.5.5 I had upgraded using the 9.5 Vanilla kernel with shutdown fix and now my system will not completly shutdown. (all fans lights etc... still running) Just wondering if I would be better off this time using the 9.4 kernel. If not, which do you think would be best for my configuration?

Thanks,

Stephen

Mysticus C, thanks for all the help, but that did not work for me, i did use the 1.1.4 package, but i think the problem was the vanilla kernal, i should of choose another one, any ways i solved my video problem, and i could not believe how easy was that. all what i did is download and install the leopard graphic update from apple website and and every thing worked just fine, now i can see my cover flow in itunes and i can use the plex media center no problem. i still have one small problem with input audio witch i will do some reading to get it to work.

again thanks for your help,

Hi,

I'm having some problems everytime when i update from kalyway 10.5.2 to 10.5.5.

I followed the steps as listed and choose the following.

Choose all under Kernel section.

Choose Intel (AHCI)

Didnt choose anything from graphics as mine is GMA 4500

Didnt choose anything from audio as mine is RealTek ALC 269

Didnt choose anything from network as i have already fixed my network card manually

Didnt choose anything from sys function as i'm afraid to encouter kernel panic

After installation and my system restart, there are a few things that are messed up.

1. keyboard prob

2. battery meter

3. network card

Please do let me know if i have dont wrong in any steps.

Except for the video & sound, everything was working out of the box with no settings selected during the install (just the first two options).

now everything is working, thanks to the guide from "wingrunr21" post (http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=119654), but i would like to know the right settings for the post-update to 10.5.5.

thanks for the help.

dell xps m1330

-core 2 duo 7500

-4gb ddr2 667 ram

-nvidia geforce 8400gs 128mb

-dell wireless 1505

Just tried updating.

At the very end of step ( got a kernel panic...was forced to restart without getting to step ©.

Now just sits at white screen with apple logo.

Intel Bad Axe 2 motherboard

Intel E6600 Dual core CPU 2.4GHz

7600GT video card

Sata2 320G 7200RPM Seagate HDD

4X 1G DDR2 800 RAM

Samsung SH-S183L DVD/CD burner (SATA)

Seasonic 600W power supply

Integrated sound

That should read "kernel panic at end of step "b" didn't get a chance at step "c"

Ok, Since no one wants to answer my questions...even a answer of "hey you idiot, go do some more research" would be better then no reply.

So let me ask just one more question and I will be out of you all's hair. Is this a good upgrade path for iatkos 4.1i users?

stephen, read the clone guide for brick free system... and test different settings (kernels) with your system and see which one responds better... without fear of bricking

jowuo: was your sound card working before the update? is your sound card listed in the ALC list in the update? what is the fncking chipset on your mobo!!!

i still cant believe how many noobs (stupid) around... asking help with no information at all, or most important information missing...

As I said this is better then no reply at all.....

But it is not every day I'm called stupid.....but If the shoe fits right?

I'm the network /IT on-call (for the company I work for) this week. Since I have a lot of needy folks out there, I am a little sleep deprived. And when you get around 50 it takes a lot out of you….. Like thinking....
