Mysticus C*
Hi Mysticus C* You're right. Never give up! I have swore to give up cos' it takes me loads of time. But I'm a Macaholic, then gonna bother you now :-) My laptop is Asus V1jp. ATI Radion x1700 video card, hacked to get full 1650x1050 res. Running Leo4All 10.2 (leo4all 10.1 + kalaway 10.2 update). After install your updates as well as others', the system can't boot, showing "vga failed". I guess there might be a problem with the kext for graphics card, so have tried to back up all graphics kext, used the origional ones but the same problem happens. Grateful if you can suggest a solution. Cheers, drivers in your category may require older opengl as well... so all i can suggest you is to use post patch , choose ati x1950 (this will bring back an older version of opengl,fr and after that, go back to your back up folder, and restore all your ati related drivers (esp, atindrv, and atirdrv, and your old natit as well) this may or may not work depending on your luck, since i dont have that card to test... detosx: i dont know about your gfx card (which i doubt would work with ci/qe?) but other settings would be kernel: 9.4.0 (or you can try voodoo 9.4.0 with speedstep? audio: would suggest restore network: restore? video: should work w/o patching? if it is 3100, so dont select anytg... chipset: ichx ahci (if ahci supported, if you can set it to native mode, rather than ide compatible modes?) if it works keep it, if it doesnt, try the non ahci, but not both at the same time, system: smbios, macbook... ps2, if you had usb2 controller problem in past than choose usb 2 fix, else dont touch it! not sure? dont touch it... that should be it... wolfie: have you applied pre patch? successfully finished and the official update after that? because all these kernel panics during official update leading me to believe that some people are just running anything they like w/o in order... everything has to be in order... 1) pre patch, 2) official update 3) post patch (customized) anyways, i m off to bed now, so no more answers until tomorrow... Mysticus C*
hmm after I installed the offical patch I ran the post updater and it stalled or was I suppose to run it right before it installs? the guide is clear enough... |||| Install Prepare for Combo Update Patch first -- and DO NOT RESTART YET|||| |||| Install Official 10.5.5 Combo Update next -- DO NOT RESTART YET|||| |||| and finally start the Post Combo Update Patch, and use CUSTOMIZE button to select options that are explained below , and RESTART ONLY AFTER YOU MADE THE CUSTOMIZATED INSTALL--- DO NOT PRESS NEXT NEXT NEXT, CHOOSE CUSTOMIZE AND MAKE APPROPRIATE SELECTIONS|||| how hard is it to read and follow? thejollyboys
Guy's, Following the update and your earlier advice Mysticus i now have to boot using the -x switch. If I don't use the -x switch i get the following error with -v GFX0: family specific matching fails Display: family specific matching fails ***-***-system-product-name ntpdate[67]: no servers can be used. Appreciate any help, I have tried to search for -x but the forum does not support that. Thanks.

However there are no intel x3100 drivers.. which one should i choose? i removed the restore option due to new opengl fr, doesnt support old drivers... so u need to patch the latest 3100 drivers in order to get it working,.... i dont have any 3100 cards around and dont know the device ids of 3100 series, so i removed the support... if you know the device ids of that series, i may be able to make a test package... muitommy
@mysticus looks like there're something i don't know with the kext after i installed the achi(jmicron) ... pkg there's a kernel panic with that appleahciport.kext can't even boot up after i deleted that kext i wonder what should i do to reverse it now ... p.s. i forget to backup
Zero_
Well if this is how it should work where I Install Preupdate 1st then i install the Official Combo Update Then i install the Custom Package stuff THEN restart after ive installed it and no restarts in between i got it right from the 1st moment the main reason i kept asking i thought i was doing something wrong since that fact that i could never EVER get pass the Official Update, it would always hang when i finish installing the Offical version and i have to restart and not be able to get back in to the OS. So atm Everytime i try to enter OSX it would restart its self. my Specs are Extreme Striker 4 Gigs 667 Q6600 Using Separate HDD for the OSX
ajee
As I said in my last post, I was captured in halt. I found finally I can enter the 10.5.5 after I retied again and gain, servral times it goes int0 halted screen "you need to restart computer, press power ...", with many of times tried, there is one time I can start up successfully. My orig system is 10.5.3, in Dell 630. Can you give me any instruction on how to debug? I have used -v to test, in halted case, it stops in "Mac os version: Not set yet". jbourassa
Just before I update, I see there are drivers for NVidida and Intels card included in this. Will it work if I have an ATI card too (2900XT)? I'd rather know before installing

LJSeinfeld
Installed over a fresh Kalyway 10.5.2 install, multiple times, fresh install of 10.5.2 each time: tried various kernels, or no new kernel (stayed at 9.4 vanilla from the original install) tried "just restore" network or the new Marvell Yukon package Last time, did incremental updates to 10.5.4 first, tried various options as described above. Still no etherenet I'm nearing the end of my rope for 10.5.5.... any ideas? Thanks
