Wolfie
Just wondering if anyone has seen this before every time I try to install your latest update it kernel panics in the middle of doing the combo update from apple. I've reloaded and tried it 3 times and cant get it to work. I've attached a picture of the kernel panic with the console log open and where the combo update crashed. I hope someone can help me. Thanks in Advance
Detosx
Hi Mysticus C*, was that sarcasm, there! I guess 64 pages is pushing it but surly a board moderator could give you the thread as a text file? I just see you answering the same questions, over and over, because people don't want to wade through 64 pages and you're never going to be able to cover all the bases on page one. Might give you back some quality time. Not that helping others so unselfishly isn't quality time. It's bloody wonderful, is what it is. You da' man, dude! Detosx
I got an error message at the end of the post installer. Just passing it on ! Installed Failed The following install step failed: run postflight script for PS2-Battery Meter-Power Management Fixes. Contact the software manufacturer for assistance. iATKOSv2, with subsequent updates from these here parts. Had to start up via -x safe mode, keyboard and trackpad not working. Error message once booted to desktop 'System extension cannot be used The system extension "/System/Library/Extensions/ApplePS2Controller.kext" as installed improperly and cannot be used. Please try reinstalling or...." followed by a simliar message .... ApplePS2Controller.kext/Contents/Plugins/ApplePS2Trackpad.kext was installed improperly...." followed by the same kind of message referring to mouse. I went to Disk Utility and repaired permissions. First boot, the track pad worked but not the keyboard. Second boot the keyboard was back, but it takes about ten boot ups to get to the desktop, so I'm going to have to back track. Azimutz
Hello good people.. Mysticus out of the box!..well,almost..just because doesn't have ATI.But,using the clone it's simple to fix.Install runs as planed, following the instructions and with patches i know that work: Kernel: stage xnu Chipset: ihcx Audio: restore Network: restore Smbios: 667MHz After the restarts and getting stuck with a black screen, booted into teste partition, erased all ATI kext's and instaled the old ones..et voilá Everything works as before..even what didn't worked time machine and dvd player(don't realy need them)..screen resolution(that i realy need..who doesn't?!),screen doesn't turn off wen in sleep and power saving..but,screen saver, reboot, shutdown, sleep all work.Never had problems with them. Ended up doing a fresh install..network wasn't stable..now it's fine..no need to -v -f at boot.Another thing that is better is the locker in the firewall department..it was always unlocking after reboots..now it's fine.Sistem is faster..startup didn't slow down..it's a nice update Thank you very much,Mysticus..for the fast reply and the good work! If help is needed testing, just pm me..for now i have space and i'm going to try always keep a test area. You see..i'm hooked by the OS and the scene. If someone has a box like mine,or similar..install in AHCI mode,in a primary partition, don´t use Vanilla kernel, don´t select the driver for network at install(it will be ativated..just need to ad device id)..stage xnu kernel works fine but isn't the only one that works..JaS 10.4.8,Kalyway 10.5.2,iDeneb 10.5.4 and JaS 10.5.4 all worked in my system.Only used stage xnu with the last JaS.I'm going to try some more kernels...following advice... See y'a later

Keyfer
Hi Mysticus, Thanks for the no brainer 10.5.5 update path. Installing it was very easy and it actually fixed an issue with my PCI Firewire/USB2 card. No need to reboot to get the devices plugged into it to show Another fix i tried got it to work, but made the USB2 ports on the card not function =s My initial install was Kalyway 10.5.2 and then went to 10.5.3 via another Kalyway update. I must have missed this post somehow. It would have saved me a lot of time I'm still having a few issues, but currently I'm able to live with them. Thanks for all of your hard work and time on this. It's greatly appreciated. Keyfer

Mysticus C*
kramark: i dont know what the deal is with 8400, but if it doesnt require any patched drivers, nvinject with correct memory, or nvkush should work from nvidia... keyfer: if you can clearly explain your issues, I or anyone with same situation who overcome the same problems may try to help... Note to Detosx and All: small issue with ps2 is fixed anyone who knows how to edit text file, could do it easy as well

Mysticus C*
Ah that will be evidence of the powers of the demon drink...in other words no I didn't than run the post installer again, choose only smbios, mac pro? finish install, restart, and check profiler again... also add your hardware profile in your signature, similar to mine for example, so people can see and know next time, they ask you, not me this is why i ask people to write down their specs.. Detosx
The installer has some new options, and older options, that I'm not sure what they do and Google isn't helping me. Maybe it would be possibe to link to an insanelymac forum on each? By which I mean, if people are going to suggest files that get included, they also include a thread link. I don't know if anyone can help but I have bootup problems. Sometimes I am able to boot up once ever three attempts, by which I mean on the third attempt the hard drive is detected. Right now, because I ticked a bunch of options in try anything desperation, I can now boot in once every ten attempts! Based on my spec, which would you say are the options for my setup, excluding the kernel (I'm impressed with xnu Voodoo, seems to run much, much faster than 9.2.0 speedstep kext) ? Any suggestions greatly appreciated. For instance, should I select VIA SB and what is it? ICHx, I selected both ahci and without. I know, but I'm desperate! The Vietnamese love Mac
Hi Mysticus C* You're right. Never give up! I have swore to give up cos' it takes me loads of time. But I'm a Macaholic, then gonna bother you now :-) My laptop is Asus V1jp. ATI Radion x1700 video card, hacked to get full 1650x1050 res. Running Leo4All 10.2 (leo4all 10.1 + kalaway 10.2 update). After install your updates as well as others', the system can't boot, showing "vga failed". I guess there might be a problem with the kext for graphics card, so have tried to back up all graphics kext, used the origional ones but the same problem happens. Grateful if you can suggest a solution. Cheers,
