Dude, you really need to chill, I mean seriously, so what if your tired of other people's bulls***. It's life, deal with it. I don't have a doubt that you were once in that position before.

On another note, if you are calling me a nub we're going to have serious issues here.

Now, on to what I was trying to say before you started being a d*** about everything.

Dell Inspiron B120

512MB 533MHz DDR SDRAM

Intel Celeron M Processor (1.4GHz)

Intel GMA 900 (i915GM)

SAMSUNG MP0402H (ATA Hard Disk)

PHILIPS CD-RW/DVD-ROM SCB5265 (ATAPI)

Dell 1704FPT 17" Display as Primary Display

Dell Wireless 1370 802.11G

My full specs. I dunno what the motherboard is. :)

Hi Mysticus,

Just for your information before you prepare/finish your 10.5.5 updater......I just attempted to update Hardware Monitor from version 4.5 to 4.51 on both the Kalyway 10.5.4 and 10.5.3 systems and got the following pop-up error message

Hardware_Monitor_4.51.tiff

Is there a way one can check if the issue is local to my install or goes back to Kalyway 10.5.2?......BTW Hardware Monitor 4.5 does not generate this message.....

haxi i never used or test speach synt, so i dont know if it was working before (kalyway plain) or not.. therefore can not confirm the problem wheter caused after my update package or was it already there before my update...

Hi 1st post

Installed Kalyway 10.5.2 DVD on my computer (sig below) and got everything working fine using the Vanilla 9.2 Kernel, NVinject 640mb Time machinefix and A889a sound drivers. Then I downloaded the 10.5.3 combo update and tried to install it doing nothing fancy and using the Vanilla 9.22 kernel. Computer restarts and i get up to the usual Grey loading screen with the spinning wheel under it and then I get a small Ø over the apple logo and there ceases to be any Hard Drive activity. After that I have to format the drive and start again.

Whats the next step to try?

Thanks

you have almost same specs... however you have to provide me details about your hdd... what type? pata/sata? and which port connected? original sata? or jmicron sata? or pata?

also boot using -f flag to show what is the error you are having.... and if possible pls post a screen cap of that boot process, where it hangs...

=========

most likely reasons are you are using your hdd in either jmicron controller or you didnt enable ahci mode for your hdds... in bios there is a setting for enabling ahci mode for your sata ports... check the setting wheter it is native ide mode or ahci? and make it ahci... should work afterwards...

but when you enable ahci, xp may not work... to make it work proparly after enabling ahci, you have to first install ahci drivers, and second, remove the ide drivers from device manager... and restart to change to ahci... if you change to ahci b4 you install ahci drivers, your xp may not work <_<

I did have 10.5.2 working with no issues at all, hell i could just run 10.5.2 and be happy but 10.5.4 sounds so much better!

Both Harddrives are SATA and the 500gb is hooked up on SATA0 and the 1tb is hooked up to SATA2. Though while i am installing kalyway I disconnect my XP hd (500gb). I dont have any drives hooked up to the purple ports only yellow.

I plan on using the f12 key in order to choose between boot drives. To tell you the truth there I really dont care about my XP install so if it gets ruined , meh. I am at work now so I can't fix from here but I plan on spending my friday night drinking and getting all the way to 10.5.4!

Hi all.

I was reading about the "fight" on getting angry or not on NOOBS and I have some points to make...

I know it´s much easier to go to a forum, don´t read s*** and starts asking to the ones who are familiarized with the whole thing.

Don´t say that´s life, because it´s not the matter. If it´s life, just go to some school, pay the price and learn.

People forget what this forum is all about. Here where you come to get help, but before starts asking, there are info available. And it´s plenty of it around here.

I´d like to say some words in Mysticus way to deal with some people here. I know mate you sometimes can be hard on people, but I see your side in this whole process. I´d be stressed out too if I have to answer same stupid questions thousand times, but even getting angry with the situation you still helps who asks for help, and I know that. I´d compare here to an apprentice. When you need to learn from the best, some times you have just to stay quite, listen or read carefully and learn.

If Mysticus weren´t here to help, he could just read the s*** some people writes here and do nothing at all and leave you with your problems and never get OSX installed to your rig.

So, before we start saying something about how people should behave on stupid questions, try to put yourselves in their places.

No thanks to MysticusC I used the Kalway 10.5.3 Combo Updater, then the native 10.5.4 update with patched Kernel.

I just read back a few pages and i think the fix provided to Komondo will be what fixes my install. Will try tonight. Thanks!

it is the same thing i said to you in my previous post... i hope you can get it working...

@sevan: there are always different solutions to same problem. I dont respond to you bcoz of your attitude against me... Me or anyone is tryig to help is with good intentions... However I fed up with people who keeps on arguing, doing no research or reading but asking an easy quick fix to their personal problems... Here is a community forum, and i try to help as much as possible, but most people do not know how to report problem and define couple of key elements of their system. If you dont know what you have, it is harder for me to help, and waste of time to start teaching from the ground zero level... you do not have to thank me or read anything i write here. You have a free will to do whatever you like... So instead of arguing, just enjoy your OSX... And glad that you are able to update... I never claim anyting like I have th best solution or the only way to fix issues... By putting together information, I try to help as much as I can... But like as I always said, not many people are successful... thats the difference between noobs and newbies... Newbies are clever, and they read around and use their head to think out of the box. Because there are always more than one way to solve problems...

Hi Mysticsus,

The report of "severe damage to speech output subsystem" generated when trying to install Hardware Monitor V4.51 (the latest i.e. current version) on 10.5.4 also occurs on clean installs of both Kalyway 10.5.2 and iATKOS v2.0i.......perhaps the subsystem was removed by both the teams to minimise the size of the DVD Installer file........at least it is not a problem caused by your 10.5.3 Combo and 10.5.4 Delta updaters...... :dev:

Anyhow, the previous version of Hardware Monitor, version 4.5 installs and runs OK, reporting the 4 core temps and the HDD temps..... :)

well my guess would be to look for audio drivers :) because they are working through injection but system profiler is not working... there is a new taruga driver that is replacing alcinject to hdaenabler or stg like that which shows audio info in system profiler as well... since speach synt needs audio card to work proparly, i would suggest you to try hdaenabler driver and delete the alcinject to see if it helps... in case u r desperate to use that speach synt :)

Thanks for suggestion........when I have a spare moment I may investigate further.......at present the Taruga AD1988B rev3 Installer enables the following audio info in my System Profiler:

Intel High Definition Audio:

Device ID: 0x104381F2

Audio ID: 12

Available Devices:

Headphone:

Connection: 1/8 inch Jack

Line Out:

Connection: 1/8 inch Jack

S/P-DIF Out:

Connection: Optical

Microphone:

Connection: 1/8 inch Jack

although I have yet to test all the back and front panel audio ports......I get full audio output from the external PC system speakers and audio playback from the DVDRW....... :)

ok I am in 10.5.3 with a simple bios switch of enable AHCI.

Noticed 2 things. Screen Saver went up and it was going extra slow and 10.5.4 delta update is stuck on "Update installer script"

ahci was boot solution,

screen saver slow? indication of gfx drivers not working (most likely u didnt choose the nvinject in the customize window...

after 10.5.3 did you restart? or continued with 10.5.4 update? bcoz at certain part you have some problem... it would be better if u could provide me installer log...

Hi Mysticus,

My system randomly hangs. (specs in signature). It just freezes, no matter what I'm doing. I want to install the 10.5.3 update in the hope that it fixes this issue. Is there any chance that you might know, why my system does that, and/or whether this update fixes it?

Using the same settings from Kalyway 10.5.2 but w/o the SMBIOS DDR2 667, because it was not available, just Netkas' SMBIOS 27, I had to reboot my system after everytime I turned it off for a while, because in like 5 minutes, it would shut down by itself, if I do that trick, I then can run Leo quite easily. (but not as smoothly as with leo4all v3)

Any help would be really appreciated, as I'm just trying my luck here, since no one was able to tell me what the problem really was.

Thanx

you can follow my guide about making rock solid foundation... meaning creating one main install partition and one back up (test partition) so that you can always do a test on test partition before you can know it works well... and do all the funny testing on it... and when tests done, and you know things working as they should, then you can apply the experience on the main partition....

I cant really tell if it may fix those issues... but i can tell u that if you understand the test partition set up, you can test it and and know the results in the least painful way...

hehehe yes I read your suggestion to another person, and i really think its the best way, since im still on a fresh install right now. I'm going then to read about multiple boots, because I don't know how to do this. But it could be a very helpful suggestion.

Thanx

Hello Mysticus C*,

First off, thanks for putting together these update packages, they have really helped this newbie get up and running. I have gotten both my desktop and my laptop up and running using Kalyway 10.5.2 and then your combo and delta updates. I have bricked my systems enough times over the past month to learn to read, re-read, and then read some more about installing different kernels and kext files. I finally have my PC up and running minus the onboard nic's, and my laptop is about 99% running minus the Broadcom NIC. I have overcome various issues but the one thing I can't seem to get to work for the life of me is the wake from sleep. If the laptop falls asleep, then I cannot get the display to recover without shutting down and restarting. I am using the GMA950 kext from the installer and if I don't run your two updates, I can wake from sleep (from a stock 10.5.2 install). Any thoughts?

Thanks,

Darkster

@darkster: I m sorry, I cant help everyone with specific hardware issues... GMA950 is known to have problematic issues. Requires different patches. And some models work fine, some models dont... I dont have one, so I never interested in to learn how it is done. It is your responsibility to learn for this issue... Once you learn it, you can provide me files and description of the solution, and I can implement it to next update so you dont mess too much... I think intel gfx is one of the updated drivers in the 5.3 update, therefor you will need the patched files...

@conjure: it sometimes happen, you have to redownload...

@Komano: I dont have ps/2 issues, and therefor I dont have any trouble... and I dont have any experience with the ps/2. Finding one solution requires different results for one system, than the other... Some patches work ok for one, but not the other... From the look of your question, you are asking me to do the research for you. Like buy all the ingredient, cook the soup for you, and serve it... It doesnt work like that mate... For the ide/jmicron issues, I dont implement jmicron bcoz I dont think you understand what happened in the update?

Before the update you were using patched driver to be able to use jmicron controller! and it has its own issues! Now, there is a built in support for it if you can enable ahci mode for the driver. Meaning that no more patched/duct taped togetger driver! It works OTB if you have ahci support. If I want to use use jmicron as before, I will have to implement old solution all the time. And it will require all of the old files, bcoz all files are updated in the new release and doesnt work with old jmicron driver if they are not used patched (old files). Since there is a built in (original driver) support now, I dont see why I should implement it. I am not trying to make everyone's hardware work perfect, because when you do that, it usually requires more time and energy, and I am doing this on my own leisure time and not making money out of it either.... Why should I spend hours and hours to make all the hardwork for nothing? and plus it is your own responsibility to do the research for your own particular problems... I usually do these update for my system, but help other in similar configs or the ones I know that will work. Why would I want to make hours of research when it should be you who is doing the research...

NOTE: JAS MADE A VERY NICE RELEASE WITH MAJORITY OF THE PATCHES BUILT-IN, so KOMANO or any other people want to try it? go ahead... It will save most you hours/days of headache.... JAS releases are usually great and works on most of the hardwares possible, however most doesnt mean all! Since OSX is not publicly sold to 3rd party hardware retailers apart from original MACs retailers, there will be always issues. Also keep in mind that apple is looking for another party for chipset or design for the next generation MACs... So it may very well be a different design specific to Apple MACs that may be like a special platform chip and without it, it may not work on hackintoshes anymore... This is a speculation that most mac rumor sites are talking about... although it can be true or not... just letting you all know...
