@Mysticus.

Tnhx for the info about the next Update for the OSX. I know you´ll do a great work on adjusting it not to break the system when updating.

At least this Security update didn´t break the system as major updates, but somebody created and thread to report problems on the security update. :(

sec updates usualy dont break anything, but iatkos systems, have differently named packaging system, therefore updates dont update receipts... it causes future problems... so better to use kalyway in your base rather than iatkos... dont know about iatkos 4 and didnt check it ... hope that they changed back to original packaging...

it is not very diffucult actually... but for people with patched drivers like yours in x3100 case, or some nvidia or ati drivers... it is usually a second step required... if you can, can u send me the x3100 files and the steps of how-to? i can add those drivers into the update package therefore you can start using your card right after u finish your update :)

IF PEOPLE CAN PROVIDE ME THEIR SPECIFIC PATCHED FILES AND A SMALL HOW/WHAT TO DO INFO, I CAN IMPLEMENT ALL THOSE STUFF INTO THE NEXT UPDATE SO MOST OF YOU DONT NEED TO DO ANOTHER ADDITIONAL STEP... IF NOONE PROVIDES ME ANYTHING, IT WILL BE PLAIN UPDATE INSTALLER, AND PEOPLE WILL NEED ADDITIONAL STEPS...

the Realtek ALC 883, 8 -Channel High-Definition Audio CODEC using the two kexts here http://www.mediafire.com/?j0lnmnwwgms if they are already not available to you......?

Hi All!

I installed Leo4Allv3 with old ACPI platform (it doesn't work other way) and even vanilla kernel.

After installing kalyway 10.5.3 update it stops at darwin kernel

I tried with different flags, but result is the same.

Anybody knows how to solve that?

my hardware is Asus f3jc with intel core 2 duo

thanks;)

Hi mate.

I know this is not the right place to this issue, but it´s a quick info from me.

Do you remember that package of drivers for Apple USB Ethernet to work on Windows you sent me the link? So, I tried here into my Windows Vista 64 bits and didn´t work. Any of the drivers from all the folders. Tried one by one. :(

For internet to work on windows, I enabled the onboard LAN card. Now I have to test if with this option enabled, my OSX will work w/o problems.

I´ll report any issues later.

i dont think drivers are for 64 bit... plus, 64 bit vista although faster, but has lotsa other issues with programs!!! so use 32 bit version instead... the drivers should work with 32 bit... i think...

Hi mate.

Solved the problem.

I enabled the onboard lan to use with windows and OSX had no problem with that since it doesn´t recognizes my onboard LAN.

OSX only recognizes the Apple USB adapter. :)

I even checked the IP to see it could cause any conflict but luckly it doesn´t, so, now I have internet in both system using 2 different adapter without any problems. ^_^

Hey MysticusC,

My laptop (Dell Inspiron B120):

HDD: 40GB Internal and 250GB External

Display: Dell 1704 17" Display

RAM: 512MB

Video: Intel 915 (900GMA) 128MB

Processor: Intel Celeron M 1.4GHz (MMX, SSE, SSE2)

For some odd reason, after I installed the update you released, it wouldn't boot, any thoughts?

most likely the controller driver has problem as usual... and you have gma 900... i ve one laptop, and using it with tiger... bcoz having leo on gma means almost no performance at all! due to non-supported gfx card! i higly suggest you to use tiger instead of leo on that laptop...

So is there a way for it to work or not? I'm not going back to Tiger.

* if u provide the screen cap of boot process using -f flag.... this is important, and w/o seeing what is happening, it is hard to know... (can be gfx? can be kernel? can be sata/pata drivers? w/o seeing the boot messages, hard to guess which one...)

* if u provide the patched drivers, i can add it to next update package so u dont need to patch it again...

:D What if I can't boot without the DVD in the drive? Does me no good then.

Actually Mysticus i feel that whenever someone asks a question you get angry at them for not knowing anything, but why dont you think that the way to fix the problems is to fix issues in your patch files instead of flaming other people for not having the knowledge you have, its good that you help others i admit but dont flame new comers, im new too so i probably wont understand everything you say, but people need time to learn and i noticed that there are not alot of people in this forum who are advanced in this issues.

Hi Mysticus,

Just for your information before you prepare/finish your 10.5.5 updater......I just attempted to update Hardware Monitor from version 4.5 to 4.51 on both the Kalyway 10.5.4 and 10.5.3 systems and got the following pop-up error message

Hardware_Monitor_4.51.tiff

Is there a way one can check if the issue is local to my install or goes back to Kalyway 10.5.2?......BTW Hardware Monitor 4.5 does not generate this message.....

The reason of flaming is already in your comment... Remember your first comment... You are lazy azz and want the answer...

I can tell you now, that in 3-4 months time, if you get too familar with all the issues, you will understand why people flame others... Esp, if the same questions asked again and again 1000 times...

It takes time to learn and get familiar with things, esp learning of a new OS requires a lot of time... The last thing I want to do here is get angry doing something I love to do! which you may not understand now... I sometimes spend hours or days helping others solve problems... But solving all the problems? nah, you cant do that. Not all problems easily solveable... Due to the nature of OSX and the supported hardwares and the way they work makes things complicated and increases steps to be done... You need more information and more experience in certain fields...

And look at help questions... PLease read a couple of examples below and maybe you can understand why you cant help being angry?

Ex0: Oh hey, i cant d/l files from those servers can u upload somewhere else (yeah I have same day delivery service to your door as well , want some? yummy)? or I d/l the files and they look like rar file and (in fact .iso, but winrar supports extracting from iso people dont know it) or the files, how do u open and apply them to the system?

Ans0: First there is a Level 0, this is negative level! I am not gonna spend time with this person all the way, because he will just keep on asking in every single step! Simple google search can make eveything easy. However people are lazy, or have no knowledge of any OS and trying to install OSX here...

Ex1: Hey, I have a asus x laptop, How can I install osx on it?

Ans1: How can I know without knowing the specs of your hardwares? Do I need to make a research to find out what you have and what you dont? Did you actually read a single line in WIKI's HCL (hardware compatibility lists) pages wheter it is supported or not?

Ex2: Help, help, urgent, immidiate help needed, OSX doesnt boot on my system...

Ans2: Again, How can I know what system you have? Do I look like a medium to know everyone's hw by heart?

Ex3: I have a kernel panic at boot after restart? or It hangs at waiting for root device error? what is teh solution?

Ans3: These are the most common problems people are keep having! But first you guys have to provide information!

+ Your hardware details, chipset? SATA/PATA HDD/DVD how/which ports connected? (most important are chipset and sata/pata ports connections and mode of their function either native ide? or ahci)

+ One of the seriously most important information is, screen cap of the boot process using -f flag in boot...!!!!!!

AT certain point people were asking, why do I need to provide these information? Minute=1 Score=1, Problem solving requires information collection, investigation of information and matching missing pieces to the problem.

For example; Kernel panic, can be 1000 things... without seeing the actual error message, how can u know?

Another example is that, without knowing chipset and sata/pata connection types, you cant identify functionality... You may immidiately say, oh all these things worked before the update but after your update, they are bricked... so it must be my update bricking? But it is not my update that bricks them! In fact it is not my update either! I just collect things together, to make an easy transition for many of you (many of you, not all of you!!!.)

Even if you do everything correct, there can be things out of your control. For example, the reason why many people had big nightmares after 5.3 update, is that apple changed the controller drivers! So things have to be adapted. But your solutions may be limited due to chipset specific problems like ahci mode support or jmicron limited in native mode or bad bios issue (which some of you have no idea about)...

And last but not least, lack of information and experience I cant help every single person here nor I have a duty to help/entertain every single person here... Esp people are asing help but not reading any single line in guide pages, about what to do before during and after, and how to ask/report questions/problems...

Oh you may say, why flame people, just simply ignore them? or tell them what to do?

Ignoring is not helping these people, they keep bumping the thread until they get an answer which is very annoying... And telling them what to do? You simply dont understand after reading everything I wrote here I guess... I try to help as much as I can, but people do not provide necessary information, and it is written already usually in almost all guides wherever people are trying to help others... Anyone who is trying to help others, has the same problem in his topic! LACK of information and LAZY people!

I wont repeat anymore the same things (although I say this, people like you keep coming... oh yeah, i know it because I posted more than 1300 posts now already... and 80-90% of them are help related!) People do not like to read but want the answer and in that answer they want the least problematic way of solution...

If I see NOOB = (Stupid) people like these, I :D , and :pyth: and :D and :) once done all these, I continue helping NEWBIE = (clever ones) and we all :yoji:
