thats strange... did you install it on the same partition taht you booted off? or did you try to be smart and install it on another partition?

for example? you booted your main partition, and installed this on test partition?

or you booted of your test partition and installed on test partition?

bcoz one of the answer you will have is the key :) and it confirmed to work on two other guys....

so something is not done right on your side i suppose... saturday (today evening) or sunday afternoon, i will release the update package this time majority of the things are fixed in the installer and it will become almost exact copy of the original installer :D fixed some of the problems :D and made some work arounds for this... :)

patience is they key...

new update package is coming soon...

Hey Mysticus,

I don't have a test partition, so i install on the same one i booted. Its hard to imagine i am doing something wrong, it seems so straightforward, just run the installer, enter my password when prompted, and reboot when its finished as prompted. What else can i do?

Thanks,

genzai

What was ur base installion DVD?

did u apply the update package first?

and then the test fix package?

It is clear that scripts are not running on ur system...

so properly identifying the problem u ll need to provide me the install log with all the messages choose from the drop down menu of the installer.... If u provide me the log I may be able to...

also did u restart b4 u do the permission repair?

update news:

update package 1.4 will be two pieces for easy problem tracking due to big size of files. It ll be easy to just update major update package or just the driver/patches package... so it will be quicker to make things available...

it will be ready tonight or tomorrow... hopefully...

update news: currently testing the first part of the update package which is fixed for ahci, hdd icons, kernel and sytem kext (9.2.0 sleep kernel and system.kext)

backups will be alcinject, applehda, natit, titan, ionetworkfamily, 802.11 family, acpiplatform, smbios, ioatafamily, ioahci...

original smbios, and acpi left in place (so if you want to keep any of your previous files as above listed, check the root folder named backups, for all the related kexts...)

this is the first part of the update package, and the rest of the other drivers i mentioned b4, will be in a seperate package, which will come soon after the release of the first package, but just ease of operation, i still included nvinject and some previous gfx strings for nvidia users as these are definetely must for nvidia users... (note that you can not run two nvidia gfx card either seperate or in sli mode... so dont bother at all trying... :) )

once the test is done and goes successful? shall i release the v1.4... most likely tomorrow noon-or-after :)

edit: test past... no suid errors etc... it will fix the permissions as well, and you will be good to go for only driver etc :) no big deal, will assemble fixed drivers/patches package soon after the main update package...

Hi Mysticus,

My base install DVD was Kalyway 10.5.2

I first updated with your 10.5.3 combo update. Then i have tried running your test patch for the SUID. I will try to install again and send you the log. I have tried restarting before and after permission repair (after installing the test fix).

Thanks!

Hi, the installer frozen for me first time at 96%, I had reinstall the system and tried again, frozen at 49%, i did a standard install, for the moment i´ll stay with my kaly 10.5.2...

Thanks for the effort mysticus.

Alex

new package coming in ~1hr time so you can give it another go again :hysterical:

but initially i need people's feedback first bcoz right now, i believe i fixed all the suid/permissions errors but of course you /may/will/ need some drivers for particular devices still so better to back them up in case update package doesnt back up your additional drivers...

preview of new update package 1.4a coming in ~1hr

mmm, then i can make you a question, when i install the package I need to select drivers for my devices?, I thoght the actual drivers remains in the computer, I had selected only the files tu update the system leaving unselected the drivers section, is this correct?. (sorry for my english)

Alex.

this one will leave the previous 3rd party drivers (like wifi drivers from oems, or nforceata, or etc...) untouched however if you had any modifications to main files, b4, like adding device ids etc? you (may/will) need to do it again in case they are overwritten...

i some of the main driver files kept in the root folder named backups b4 they are updated, so you may wanna check the backed up drivers from your previous system b4 the update... in case you may wanna revert back to these files?

cheers...

:trumpet: will be ready in couple of mins...

Update News:

1.4 is finally out... You should be able to update from 10.5.0---10.5.1---10.5.2 to 10.5.3 using this package...

+ ahci and hdd icons fixed

+ suid and permission errors fixed

+ some minor additions and deductions (drivers esp)

+ takes about 6-7 mins to finish installing, after that restart and all should be good hopefully

+ if no kernel choosen, it will install 9.2.0 sleep kernel and system.kext

(some of you may have bad bios issue--where it stops booting after saying some buffer message... like in dDub's case, in this case, you may need to use your old acpi driver, which is saved in /backups folder before the update started by the prepare update package option)

good luck and please feedback so i can fix any over/underlooked issues...

anyone want to mirror in different places? please PM me the links so i can update the trumpet for more mirrors.... also if anyone want to torrent? your welcome to do it as I have not copy rights on any of these files (although i made some scripts) and all these posted in public anyway... so treat it as you like... but PM me to let me know if you mirror them somewhere, so I can update the main :D

It seemed to have worked!!! I have had soo much trouble with the 10.5.3 Update. First time I have been about to boot in OS. Thanks Mysticus. I mean it's only been 3 minutes. So, I don't know if my random freezing is corrected or my USB mounting. But, at least I can see a dock. Ha.

Now if I could only figure out how to get RT2500USB-Replug to work. I would be set. ;)

it has a driver from official website i know... the driver also be in my up-coming driver package ;) currently collecting vast amount of drivers to make a database together with pcwiz ;) so it will be sort of like a HCL or work with HCL to be combined to complete one missing piece... one central database for all the drivers :)

but it will take a bit of time so gotta be patient for giant driver database, in the mean time you can grab THIS from official web site :)

cheers,,,
