Okay I tested this method and at first boot I just get a black screen instead of a scrambled screen...... I hook up a external monitor and get a solid blue screen...... I am ready for another test though......

Someone else said:

"The black screen I got went away once I connected my TV via HDMI. So it seems to be due to the DVI->VGA convertor I use, this interferes with the detection of the screen. I'm happy now, now I only need to find an IR receiver that works with OSX..."

These do have HDMI on them, don't suppose you have an HDMI cable?

 thats all I got for ideas that might have changed things.

The only other solutions you could dabble with are manually changing the framebuffer to other things, or installing different (newer) kexts, different approaches to hex-editing, and trying the same things etc, and I'm not going to put you through all the random {censored}.

Thanks for being a sport and trying anyhow man, woulda been {censored} sweet if it worked.  It was worth the shot.  H4ckster might be able to help you out here yet, but I myself am out of ideas until more fresh opportunities arise, sorry!

One more thing, from someone else with a dell:

"Works !

Not in first place. I still had the black screen on my Dell 30".

Then i tried to boot with : "Graphics Mode"="2560x1600x32" (without @60 because this causes my pc to reboot), and it worked ! Full QE/CI !!

(but haven't tested dual-display yet...)

Thanks A Lot !

P.S.: Does anybody know how to add the "Graphics Mode"="2560x1600x32" command as default ? (so it launches it a every boot)"

Might want to try that (you know, with your resolution - you do this at boot, the same place you would normally boot with -v -f).

So if you can get to black screen, there are two more possible solutions that might get you the last step.

I can not ask for anything more than that man.... I understand and will be more than willing to test anything you can think of I have a HDMI out and I can try it hen I get home and hook it up. but, at work I am kinda limited on the resources..... I connected to the external monitor via VGA out as I heard the issue with mobility cards is the frame buffer rate and that it causes a issue with the internal LCD so I figured I would try that..... Upon the first test when I did this it would turn the scrambled screen a solid blue when I plugged into the external monitor and when I disconnect that monitor it would go solid blue on the internal LCD I would like to think we are getting closer but, I guess more research is needed....

Well I fixed the partition I was testing on so I will try the install again and then tell it what my res is and report back might be a couple of minutes though....

I'm gonna go to lunch, and have high hopes during lunch, so that my lunch tastes good.

When I return, I expect that I will not be as positive, but I will have already eaten, and thus, I will have won a small battle.

This bothers me: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?s=&...st&p=917322

How did he get two megalodon to register, from two different places.  I've never seen a release of any installer that has a megalodon in BOTH Atirndrv AND Atindrv.

How the hell / where the hell do you get an installer with both of those? (outside of the eps natit release)

Is there a spot that the idea to put megalodon in both places came from, that drove people to make the "eps natit" release? How did this come to be, I guess is where I'm getting at.

*Oh, and heres why it bothers me*

The people who do have card IDs listed inside the ATIRadeonX2000 executable already, like the 9501, work great with that release. But cards with IDs not found in the executable itself don't work, which is not suprising. This is important because if you look at the info.plist for the one in eps natit, its saying "ATIRadeonX2000 1.5.34.10 (5967)", but if you look at the newer NVinstaller files, they are listed as "ATIRadeonX2000 1.5.30.17 (6060)". I don't know if its newer or older, because 6060 is newer, and 5967 seems older, yet 1.5.34 > 1.5.30, so its kind of ass-backwards. BUT HERES THE THING, Inside the NVinstaller atiradeonx2000 executable, I DO see our newer cards listed - as though they are being supported. Now, heres what I"m getting at: If the only missing link is some stupid thing like the new executable being somehow dropped into the "eps natit" install, I don't know how to do it - so that it activates both megalodons. Can someone shed some light on this scenario for me?

Like, ok, here is a rough Idea of what I'd like to do, but I dont know how to do it without errors in some way, Perhaps LastExile or EPS could chime in here to help me out:

Install Eps-Natit

Replace ATIRadeonX2000 inside of the kext with the one from NVinstaller that has our cards listed inside of it

Add our Ven/Dev Id's to the ATIRadeonX2000's IOPCIMatch string inside Info.plist

Add our Ven/Dev Id's and Chipsets to Natit

Is there a way to do this and not lose the link between the double-megalodon files and ATIRadeonX2000 executable?

I have a Sapphire Radeon HD3850 512Mb DDR3 videocard and iDeneb v1.3 10.5.5.

Which .pkg to download?

(I tried this one:"Update: try pkg for 2600 Pro & XT, 3850 & 3870 and maybe ( 2400 series ) also 3650 users try this Report back" - got kernel panic....)

Okay well I was bored so I tried a combination of the new ATi kexts from macbook update and the 9f23 installer and then used the EFi Studio File from H4ckster... I get the following image however I get no res control and no QE/CI is this more or less where we were before Fuji?

Thanks, Mark

Step 1 Installed the 9f23 installer

Step 2 I overlayed the new drivers from Macbook update

Step 3 I installed the EFi File via EFi Studio

You may try my modded NATIT.kext.

I moddded it a bit, got also KP or blue screen with Natits try&error installs. (mostly .pgk have also some natit.kext installed too).

Be sure that you have an Megadlon.plugin in the ATIRNDRV.kext (in Plugin folder od that .kext).

This natit uses Megadlon Framebuffer.

Some OSX86 DVDs didnt have all Framebuffers included (use older ATI drivers without Megadlon plugin).

Remove other natit.kext.

Install this Natit.kext with KEXTHELPER or OSXTools (because of rights setting).

I would also remove extensions.mkext before reboot

I think you just need an x2000.kext and x2000ogl kext bin patched for your card now and it whould work ") also check and see if your device ids are in those kexts plists. no res and refresh may mean that Megalodon isn't your proper framebuffer ........

The efi string needs Megalodon to work also with res and refresh, so if he doesn't have it then that could be why he has no res control

Just curious: what exactly is broken that the OpenGL framework files in the installer replaces? What would happen if I didn't copy them?

I ask because I thought I might've had a problem copying the framework over. Looks like it didn't, but wanted to see. I installed the kexts and framework by hand, everything works 100% immediately on reboot.

Thanks lastExile!!!!

Greetings:D

Firstly thank for all the help so far everybody has contributed:)

Now, I have an ASUS EAH3650 512MB silent magic card, and I'm running ideneb 10.5.4

I've installed the latest (oct18th) 3650 driver using pacifist in safe mode. I can only run the resolution at 1024x768 in safe mode. If I run at other resolutions i get lots of pink, green lines, flickering, artifacts etc. I can see the desktop, but it really isn't usable. As a note, the hertz is displayed as 59.9 and not 60 when i try to run it in my monitors native resolution (1920x1200) When I don't boot in safe mode, I get the black and white squares of death:(

I'd really appreciate any help anybody could offer.

Here are my other pc components;

GA-EP45-DS3

4GB corsair RAM DDR2 800mhz

2x500GB barracuda 7200.11

I hope this helps:)

After looking at a few Natit list it references a X3000 instead of x2000 kext is this something that is coming out in the future? Maybe that is where the megalodon will be moved to or linked to show the correct framebuffer... and eliminate out scrambled screens.... Does this make sense?>
