works perfect QE /Ci accelerated (thanx EXile)

 

detected as Radeon HD 3800 by Profiler

 

only minor drawback is that the card is always working in 3 D mode under Mac OSX

 

so the temps are a rather high 80 degr. C (30 % fan speed) in my HTPC case

 

'fraid that's the nature of Quartz Extreme - uses the gfx card to do much of OSX's rendering.

 

now to a new start :

 

I had the chance to buy a 3870 Sapphire DDR 4... 512 MB on ebay yesterday

should I simply exchange the HD 3850 with the HD 3870 and crossing my fingers ?

 

You should be able to swap the cards without altering your software at all. If you do experience problems (like the card is not recognized), you can always swap back. I've used a Sapphire HD3780 with no troubles at all.

This works with the ATI Radeon HD 2600 Pro (Dev ID, 9589). I have multiple resolutions and QE/CI.

Update, it works, but I am now having a some applications crash.

Quicktime 7.5.5 (Trying to watch a trailer)

Photoshop CS4 (Launching)

I have a HD3850 and I'm wondering if it matters if it has a RV670 or a RV670pro.

 

I fear the answer is 'yes', but, nonetheless. I've been breaking my head to try to get my Sapphire HD3850 1GB working and no success so far. Further looking into the lspci I realized that my card has a RV670pro

I got some problem.... ;)

 

When I boot normally I have a black screen with little part of desktop picture on the right side...

I only can boot in safe mode type -x or type "Graphics Mode"="1680x1050x32".

 

Any advice?

Hmmm, i dont know why you need to set the graphics mode.

I looked in the natit plist and see that there is one Entry "Safe Boot" i changed that to "Root".

Try this one and report back.

I tried this kext but it resulted the same.

 

I just recognized an other strange thing : some application (f.e. photoshop) if I open it the mouse cursor start to jump around the screen and not controllable.

Can the graphics card cause this?

Thats not normal !!!

Perhaps some ATIdrivers and/or OpenGL Framework didnt fit togehter.

What Version (Finder Info) do you get from ATI2000 drivers ?

I upload the latest ATI drivers for you (i work with them on my 3850 PCIe) 1.5.34.10 (1.5.24 or 1.5.28 would be really old for 10.5.5)

and the openGL framework OpenGL 1.5.7.31.0

RS LINK REMOVED, SOME PROBLEMS WITH THE ,ZIP, rezipped and uploaded some posts down

Be sure to reapair rights after install and befire reboot.

I would also delete extensions.mkext (and! empty trash) before reboot.

Tried with my mHD3650. Booted. No change, didn't even load a kext. This is on a brand new clean install aswell.

OK, thanks, I just downloaded it but not installed yet.

 

Anyway, I just overwrite the folder of the old one in the System/Library/Frameworks/OpenGL.framework?

 

I'm not really experienced in the OS X system I just use iMac in work and I have a PC at home and I'm very interested how to work OS X on PC.

 

I will inform you how your attachment works.

One more thing:

 

I unzipped the file but only the OpenGL.framework folder is inside.

Did you attach the ATI2000 drivers?

I will check that, never uploaded to RS before, was 20 MB , should have 2 tings in the .zip with framewaork and the .zip with ATI2XXXX.

Something went wrong !!!!

FIRST RS DL LINK REMOVED, SOME PROBLEMS WITH THE ,ZIP, rezipped and uploaded again, new RS Link

 

Now uploaded again both .zip in one file , please redownload if you dl the older rs dl !

Hi,

 

I'm running 10.5.4. Aitkos 2.0 on Asus MoBo P4P800E DELUXE.

Recently I put in a ATI Club HD3650 AGP 512 MB and had a BenQ monitor E2200HD hooked up to it.

 

Here are the specifics from Mac:

Reading through several posts I believe I need this driver:

It also seems that I have to install something like "AGPgart". If so which version ?

Is there a way when the install fails and Mac hangs to do a kind of rollback ?

How can i check this ?

Its an MSI 3850 512 MB DDR3, 9505 as devive ID.

my lspci :

01:00.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: ATI Technologies Inc Unknown device [1002:9505]

01:00.1 Audio device [0403]: ATI Technologies Inc Unknown device [1002:aa18]

lspci isnt really exact! I think GPU-Z (Win) is needed for really true answer.

 

Also , i think all high VRAM cards mostly have much VRAM but lowcost+slower RAM chips + slower clocked VRAM (DDR2 insted of DDR3) !

So they are slower than same cards with much faster but lesser VRAM !

I would avoid such ( 3850 1 GB DDR2 )cards !

I installed ATI2000drivers on a clean iDeneb OS X and the boot problem seems gone away.

But I didn't installed OpenGL frameworks because I realized I have a same 1.5.7.31.0 version like yours without 'Headers' folder what's included in your version.

 

I realized an other thing that if I enable QuartzGL this causes the uncontrollable mouse movements in some opened application window.

And the 'Expose' feature looks not so smooth .....

 

I attached a XBench test what I made after driver install.
