esmith1977
Are there problems getting Openoffice Win to install and run under Darwine? Also, does MS Office run under Darwine? sigxcpu
You have MS Office 2004 for MAC (native GUI) and OpenOffice Universal Binary for OS X. Why do you need Darwine? Hagar
I have to chime in with sigxcpu here.. Im a big fan of doing things to prove they're possible, but in that case, you're experimenting & not asking if it can be done.. If you want to find out for the hell of it, try it & let us know.. If you're after a practical office solution, openoffice/win under darwine is not it. snackole
You can download a precompiled binary of OpenOffice for Mac. It runs very well in X11 on my hackintosh. A Nonny Moose
You can probably get AppleWorks to run under Rosetta, and it will read Word and Excel files. zazman
Simply download the OSX x86 RC openoffice http://macosxrc.services.openoffice.org/pu...omisc/MacOSXrc/ I've tested the m151, works great on 10.4.3 ! 8f1111 I've got problems of home privileges restrictions into 10.4.5, can save documents only logged into root user, another user (with admin privileges too) just crash openoffice. I've read on the web openoffice developpement area that it's caused by a variable that doesn't point correctly on the HOME/library/application support directory. Will be corrected by the openoffice developpement team ! Simply use it with your root account on 10.4.5 (don't know for 10.4.4) or with any account into 10.4.3 as well. A Nonny Moose
Simply use it with your root account And that's what makes software dangerous. The root user is disabled for a reason... zazman
Yes, you'r right A Nonny Moose, you must be carefull when enabling the root user... and know what you're doing... but you have to know that every linux user uses root account carefully ;-) If you'r not familliar with it, better use openoffice under 10.4.3 ! Have someone else the same problem of saving documents with openoffice x86 m151 under 104.5 ?
