Hey,

Ive been trying madly to get either to boot on my Inspiron 5150. 10.4.3 (JaS patch) panics at the grey apple logo (restart your computer) and 10.4.4 says i have incompatible hardware(sse2 im sure)

Anyone have any idea what the 10.4.3 is panicing at.

I even tried installing using maxxus method with PearPC and it doesnt see either disc as having any bootable partitions, but a OSX 10.2 real cd shows its bootable partition.

Is there anything I can do? :)

-UPDATE

It says in verbose

BSD root: disk1s2 major 14, minor 5

SAM Multimedia: READ or WRITE failed, ASC-0x64 ASCQ = 0x00

hfs_mountroot failed: 5

nfs_boot: networking is not initialized

panic(cpu 0 caller 0x00285780): nfs_boot_init failed with 6

a lotta people are telling me to use the latest maxxus, but I cant patch the bootable dvd....I have a feeling its IntelSpeedStep it doesnt like, but even with that disabled it doesn work. Is tehre a patch for the actual dvd (not where I have to install with vmware, cuase that wont help me)

SAM Multimedia

This means it can't read the disc, are you booting through VMware? If you are then you need to mount the iso using another program (nero imagedrive for example) and then point VMware at that. If not, you may have just burnt a dud disk.

hi.

i'm having the exact same issue. i have a pentium d 920 + asus p5wd2 mobo with 2 gb of memory. i have pretty much unhooked EVERYTHING except a keyboard, the hd i'm installing to (with 120gb free and nothing else) + dvd drive (pioneer 110d). i have an nvidia video card, which i know isn't supposed, but no reason to get this sam error. i have tried turning off sound support in the bios as well as pretty much everything else. i'm not sure about speed step as it doesn't show that specifically as an option. i have not tried in vm ware yet.

how did you see the error? it goes by so fast i can't stop it and basically turns off my pc.

UPDATE: when i applied the JAS patch, the cd image doesn't look like anything has changed. i've tried to use this burned disk (10.4.3) and also a 10.4.4 disk that i used a dvd patcher for and cannot get either to work.

any idea how to apply a ppf patch to a mach_kernel file? it's my understanding that's how you apply the patch, not specifically to the .iso. when i do a strings on the kernel file off the burnt dvd there is no mention of maxxuss and i think there's supposed to be.

ciao,

mike.
