rudders
Right... I have XP installed. Created another partition for osx.. followed instructions as http://leo4all.wikidot.com/how-to-s Installed leo4all then rebooted. Nothing will boot from HDD and no options for OS.. just trys booting from ethernet with: INTEL UNDI, PXE -2.0 (Build 082) Copyright © 1997-2000 Intel Corporation FOR REALTEK RTL8139(X) /8130/810X PCI FAST ETHERNET PXE -E61: MEDIA TEST FAILURE, CHECK CABLE PXE -M0F: EXITING PXE ROM Then just keeps rebooting as above. If I insert leo4all DVD and press f8 just before it boots from dvd then OSX loads fine and runs no probs.. If I leave for boot options it gives the install dvd options and installs OSX again... All of the Files are OK on the XP partition so this is obviously a boot issue but ive no idea! Laptop is a HP Pavilion zd8369ea with 2 gig ram, 3.2ghz P4 proc. Any help would be grately received ASAP! Regards. I Updated the bios to not boot from LAN and this time it just goes to blank screen with cursor in top left.. awesomo
do you get a b0 error marking your partitions unbootable. I think they are not flagged Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/104163-help-another-newb-not-a-clue-what-hes-doing/#findComment-744699 Share on other sites
rudders
i don't get any errors coming up, just a blank black screen with the cursor in top left... OSX boots fine if just before the dvd rom boots i press F8, and can see from the loading screen then it chooses the OSX partition... How do I fix this so i can still have dual boot? oh and if makes any diff i can't choose a partition on the bios only the drive as a whole. MANY MANY thanks in advance! DrDaxxy
As awesomo said, your partition may not be flagged as bootable. You should try to boot some Linux Rescue Live CD and see if there's a partition in your partition table flagged 'bootable'. Don't know how to do this? I may write up a guide for you then. Also, are you using a MBR partition table or a GUID one? What DVD were you using to install OSX? rudders
Not very experienced with 'technical' side of OS's but would be able to fix with instructions pointing me in the right direction.!! ;-) Using Leo4all DVD not 100% sure which version.. how do i find this? it has the leo4all installation splash screen etc.. i think its an up to date version as i only DL's it about a week or so ago. I Tried putting in the XP OS disk to repair installation but this didnt work either... or i wasn't doing the right thing lol! but that disk did find the C: partition. I presume Partition table is MBR as this is what it says in system profiler, I Presume leo4all install chose this automatically as per release notes. Many thanks for you help.. da23ad
Hi everybody, I get the same problem... I installed iatkos in my Western Digital External Drive that I bought for that purpose. I rebooted at the end of the installation , went to the bios boot menu (F11 on my computer) and chose the external drive to boot on. Then I got a black screen with the blinking cursor .... nothing else... no activity on the external HD .... I tried to reboot on the iatkos CD .... located my external drive number with the disk utility (it's disk 5).... On the terminal I typed : sudo -s (the command wasnt recognized) fdisk -e /dev/rdisk5 (ok) print ( I could see my OSX partition as partition 1, the 3 others being unused) flag 1 (it set my partition 1 as active) print (again ... I could see the * near partition 1 which means my partition is bootable) quit (then Y to apply) I've rebooted wihout the DVD ..... same black screen I also tried the fdisk -u /dev.rdisk5 but when I get to choose the start up disk, all I had was the "network" option.... no physical hard drives.... So I'm still stuck to my black screen ....
