Hi!

I'm presenting here because my iMac Core2Duo 2,4Ghz, 4GB Ram 667mhz, with ATI Radeon HD 2600 PRO DDR3 is making strange things with grapphics.

First of all i explain that i bought it by applestore to Spain, and it don't sounded good, something bad in audio, 3 times i had to go to the apple service to repair, they finally changed, Mothership board, speakers, DVD drive(they broke there the 2nd time that i picked my mac there), and finally it was the f*cking HD drive, it was bad from factory... and didn't processed audio as well.

When i had this things repaired, they changed everything from the interior of mac except the grapphic card, well then i was starting to install audio software to work and of coursE! some games to distract :thumbsup_anim: and with Quake4 the video in medium quality was impressive! BUT in fast movements of camera(looking by HUD) the lateral movements i saw in textures lines horitzontal... very ugly... I tried to get lower video settings with less resolution, and the same... I tried higher settings and the same(not some more)...

Then i tried other games like Halo, Doom1,2(with bad textures and primitive video) and the same, Doom1,2 with better textures loaded, and the same horitzontal lines in lateral camera movements. I think that my last component to be changed it's not ok... The grapphic card.... could be that it don't process fast enoght the textures of any game? The same happens in Parallels when i move fast a window of WindowsXP, by parallels, in full screen aand in little screen...

I think that it's a problem of my mac, because i tried doom1,2 the same in G4,G5, and it make sometimes a line in fast camera movements with high grapphics resolution, but nothing exagerated and only sometimes, rarely, and in Halo or Call of Duty in iMac G5 works allright, in my "new" iMac Core2Duo not... and the grapphic card is DDR3 and 256MB, i readed that it's not maravellous, but I MUST work RIGHT with ACTUAL games in medium qualities and it don't do.

thank you to listen me, any suggestion?

of course when i'll have more time and not work i'll pick up mac again to repair, but i prefer ,during the waiting, read opinions and suggestions hehehe.

cya!!

hey,

from what i know and from ur descriptions there is nothing wrong with your graphics card. the horizontal lines u see are called horizontal tearing, they occur when the refresh rate is usually lower then your frames per second. Im not sure about mac as i dont game much on it, but to fix it just try and enable VSync. Just note that VSync will try and lock your frame rate to your refresh rate (60-70hz).

Read more about it here :

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vertical_synchronization

Good luck =]

I tried in some games to accept Vsync, then it works better, but anyway, there are some games that don't have VSYNC, and I think that is not normal to need to calibrate ALL games.... something wrong, i don't know where.

thanks

waiting for more answers.

The grappgic card of iMac Core2Duo is integrated to mothership board?

.. wow K-tuin guys are so stupid, I asked them if i could change the grapphic card in the future for a better one, and they said yes...

So there is any software disyncronization around here... Not usual to see VSync mistakes on Doomsday...

Need more help...

Ok, i'm trying again Quake 4 and with VSYNC activation and it make less horizontal lines but, ONLY LESS.... Any other idea??? Maybe I have to reinstall Leopard?

thankyou!!!

I've seen that kind of issues in the different hackintosh I've assembled (ati, nvidia, and intel in tiger and leopard). I though it was something related to an incompatibility, but it seems it's an Apple's bug.

What happens in my case is from a certain point on the screen (about the beggining of the last 1/3 of the screen) a different video frame is shown, as so a vsync off effect appears.

It's very easy to spot in games if you move the character left and right.

This problem also affects the finder itself. For example randomly when I move a window over that third of the screen the movement is not smooth. Then I change to a lower resolution, and back to my default one and everything is smooth again.

Also some times, the genie effects of the dock start to move a bit skippy, and it keeps in that way until I relaunch the finder.

yes, seems to be something like that but i'm not on a hackintosh.... and change the resolution do not works... I tried too...

the only way is to carry the mac there and let them repair it....

thanks for the interest, if it were a hackintosh wouldn't be the same but being an official apple i CAN'T be BUGGED and at that price! heheheh
