CL Corwin Legendre
Okay, I know there's probably an answer somewhere on the forum (i've looked) -- yet I'm stuck, totally stuck. No idea what to do or how to make this work how it should. I have an emachine t-4010 CPU: Intel® Celeron® D Processor 340Chipset: Intel® 865GV Memory: 1024MB DDR SDRAM (PC3200) Optical Drive: dvd-rw Video: Intel® Extreme Graphics2 (64MB DDR shared video memory) I installed my Kalyway 10.5.2 - runs beautiful, have my internet via my "speedbooster linksys card" Yet, I can't play DVD's due to this god-awful annoyance of an error "A valid video device could not be found for playback. [-70017]" And, I go into system pref's Type: Display Bus: Built-In VRAM (Total): 64 MB of shared system memory Vendor: Intel (0x8086) Device ID: 0x2572 Revision ID: 0x0002 Kernel Extension Info: No Kext Loaded Displays: Display: Resolution: 1024 x 768 Depth: 32-bit Color Core Image: Software Main Display: Yes Mirror: Off Online: Yes Quartz Extreme: Not Supported/quote] So, of course, obviously it's not supported, and I can't find the push to make it work. I've tried a couple different things and maybe I'm not following clearly. Please, clearly steer me through this. Thanks -Corwin

CL Corwin Legendre
oh my god. LOL I need another solution - there's no agp slot..and I don't have a budget for this machine right now as $ is extremely slim. What to do, what to do? Help?
Gujal
The specs for emachine t-4010 here show 3 PCI Slots and 1 AGP slot. Are you sure your machine does not have AGP? Basically for QE and CI (which are required for DVD playback and other effects) you need OpenGL and Pixel Shader 2.0 both of which are not supported by Intel 865GV. Same requirement for Vista Aero. GeForce FX5200 would be the cheapest card with those features.

CL Corwin Legendre
Still hoping someone finds a solution (without buying any additional parts) as I need to be able to use the computer, yet not be spending much, as bills are an overload already. weddlec
I know that it is not a hardware problem. My 8800 GT 512 has the same issue. I can play video in Quicktime via Perian, but VLC, DVD Player, and Front Row will not show video. They will play sound. Front Row does not even show the menus.
