Hello this is a guide on how to make a customised DMG Image!

 

1. Make a DMG file about 10MB bigger than the file you are containing.

-Go to Disk Utility

-Click New Image

2. Now Put all your files in.

-Click on the mounted image.

-Drag and Drop

3. Design your images!

-Use a program like Seahorse or GIMP to do this. Make the picture 640x480.

-OPTIONAL: Make an Icon. With Graphics Design or similar programs.

-Put it in a folder called "Files"

 

3. Customise!!!

-Press Command + J

-And on the screen that comes up, choose these options....

3a. Icons

-Click "Get Info" on your icon and the mounted disk. The mounted image.

-On the get info page in the top left hand corner there is a small icon. Copy and paste it into the disk image.

4. Hide our "Source" folder

-For this to work, you need xCode installed.

 

Type in this code into terminal

/Developer/Tools/SetFile -a V /Volumes/your_disk_name_here/files

 

If you have spaces in your disk's name, change to to something like temp. Do the scipt, then change it back.

 

Optional:

 

-Create a shortcut to the Applications folder

-Compress the image

 

This will be you final product!
